Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 31, 2019 8:47 pm Hi I'm currently looking to build a home in W.A. with Ben Trager homes Just wanted to gather some thoughts on the expanded polystyrene build (EPS) that they use for their upper floor construction. Iām concerned about this material ending up in the banned list in the future after any fire incidents and destroying the resale value of the house. It is sounds like the same type of cladding used in high-rises, like that London building which caught fire. Would it be better to stick to a double brick construction, which has stood the test of time but also potentially pay $20-30k more for the house? Thanks Re: Ben Trager - EPS / Cladding, Potential Ban in Future? 2Sep 01, 2019 10:16 am Welcome to the forum It's also been used for years in Renovations Some times the cutting edge in material technologies (Aluminium composite panel ban) is the bleeding edge nuf said Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Ben Trager - EPS / Cladding, Potential Ban in Future? 3Aug 18, 2020 10:45 pm hi, isnt modern Polystyrene has non-flammable properties? I really would like to know if anyone built their house fully from poly and what is result? I am in cold area, so I am after a good thermo-insulator material. Many thanks Re: Ben Trager - EPS / Cladding, Potential Ban in Future? 4Aug 19, 2020 9:29 am Almay hi, isnt modern Polystyrene has non-flammable properties? It been widely discussed... I might add if the 3 little pigs built their house out of polystyrene/eps the wolf would be eating pork crackle Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Oh no! I would use a can of expandable foam ( there are some that will take render) then cut it back and render over the top 1 4148 All 3 items listed are defects and are of concern. Water fills up the hole just above the seepage point and doesn't overflow. 1 815 |
