Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2019 8:12 pm Hi everyone, Just want to know how much you had to pay for gas during the construction of your house. We just had handover this month with Rawson for a house and granny flat with a gas hot water unit and gas cooktop in each. Today we received a $720 bill for gas which I assumed was during when they installed these appliances. surely this is a ridiculous amount of gas to use just to fit off 4 appliances? They must have left the valve open? Can I dispute this in anyway? Re: Construction gas bill 2Aug 28, 2019 9:00 pm Was it just a usage charge or did it include some set up fees Accessible Carpentry & Cabinets accessiblecarpentry@gmail.com accessiblecarpentry.com.au https://www.facebook.com/pages/Accessible-Carpentry-Cabinets/583314911709039 Re: Construction gas bill 4Aug 28, 2019 10:06 pm Not necessarily. The actual connection doesn't happen until the meter goes in which is often at the end so any connection fees or service charges come then. But if your bill only says it's usage then it would seem that there has been a leak or someone has left something turned on. Is it possible that this is an estimate based on when the gas was first connected, because the meter-reader wasn't able to get onsite & read the meter? I have no idea how gas works, but with water & the older electric meters the bill is often estimated & then adjusted when they finally get around to getting someone out to do a real reading. We've been paying the construction gas bill since last year and it's always been $70 per quarter (assume this has no usage and it's just the daily lines charges), suddenly after the appliances were fitted in it jumped 10 fold. I've never had a gas bill of this scale since the time I lived in Canberra in a 4 bedroom sharehouse with central gas heating! There is obviously an issue if the house has been vacant and you've been hit with a bill that large. Have you spoken with the gas supplier to discuss? The problem is how close can I build to the gas hot water unit? Will I be able to build around it and be… 0 20230 you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3657 |
