Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 15, 2019 7:06 pm Has anyone built with coral homes and chosen not to have caesarstone benches and vanities? We are trying to cut as much costs as possible so we can get the biggest house for our budget. We were hopinv we could add it later and just have laminate for now but not sure if it is something coral do. If you have done it how much has it saved? Re: Coral Homes No Caesarstone 2Aug 25, 2019 12:41 pm Ask them about, that's the best way to find out. As far as I'm aware most of the project builders are the same in this regard - when you take something out that's included, you get the cost returned, minus the builders margin. So lets say using made up numbers it costs $1000 to upgrade to stone. If it's already included and you want to revert to laminate, they will keep their margin on (around 20%), and credit the rest back. So to downgrade you might only get $800 back, which could be fairly close to what it costs to upgrade later. Just something to consider, what the amount saved is vs the cost of the exercise later + the inconvenience of researching, organising and then having your kitchen pulled apart. Well, we never got around to it and I always regretted it. And when we were selling, potential buyers were commenting on us not having stone. Hi Brayton, Is there anything else you can cut out? Downgrade appliances? Maybe delete the rendering off the facade. Not having the stone in the wet areas isn't the end of the world but like everything laminate tops don't like water or heat from hair straighteners. they can be done later on it just cost more than plugging a new oven in. there's the plumber, stone people, silicone people then the plumber again. All we would suggest is doing your homework. Regards, Dan. www.bespokebuildingconsultants.com.au @bespokebuildingconsultants Did you find the answers you were looking for?
