Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 22, 2019 6:35 pm Hi, Does anyone have some options for bulk builders that do nice raised houses? Interested in a nice plot for a good price, but due to flood risk we need to have it on stilts. The normal coral/dixon/metricon don't seem to cater for this very well. Re: Raised house 3Jul 22, 2019 7:04 pm I think they all build on stilts. They just don't have them shown in their designs. At least Burbank and... I think ?Clarendon ? said that. Although I think they avoid it if it slopes too much. Cost about 40k more. Best to call and ask. Re: Raised house 5Jul 23, 2019 8:12 am If it is only a metre it is no big deal. There are multiple construction methods that can suit, and if brick veneer is your choice, the most common would be strip footings and piers with a timber platform. Only a few more bricks . You should check with your council to see if there are any requirements to have the sub floor open to allow water egress. Consider going up another couple of hundred MM just for piece of mind. Our block has a 1:10 fall, so we opted for lightweight construction on duragal piers. We have 2.5m to the underside of the bearers, so you have plenty of options.
