Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Timber vs James Hardie Scyon Linea weatherboards? 5Jul 18, 2019 7:14 pm FoxHill What are peoples thoughts on timber vs FC weatherboard product (probably James Hadrie Scyon Linea)? Is one seen as more premium than the other? I know FC should in theory be lower maintenace but how hard wearing are the FC boards? I have heard stories of them not holding up well with kids (think cracking if hit by a ball etc). I use a company called Skyon Building group for all my cladding. They install both FC and timber products such as Weathertex. Weathertex is a brilliant product made from 97% hardwood and 3% wax manufactured up near Newcastle. The only issue with Weathertex is that when the nails are shot into it, they blow out so the painters need to spend more time patching and sanding the holes. You dont get this with FC sheeting, therefore FC "weatherboards" and there are quite a few companies that make them are definitely cheaper to buy and cheaper to paint.
