My wife and I have nearly completed our build I with Hallmark Homes QLD and are approaching the inspection stage.
Is it acceptable to engage a private defect inspector to accompany us to the inspection?
Also how picky should you be; what is classified as a defect and what is considered within reasonable workmanship for a hand built home?

I would highly suggest reading over the whole document in the link below. It outlines the standards and tolerances acceptable in QLD and it tells you how scrupulous you can be.
Hope this helps!

I've engaged an inspector twice on my build - at slab and frame stages, and will get them to do the final inspection too. They've been great at answering any questions I have and they picked up things during their inspections that I would have had no idea about. Definitely recommend.
I'm using All Inspect; I've heard others happy with KSpec as well.
