I decided to go with Frenken Homes as I saw a house a few weeks before, and the build quality was excellent. Was not interested in going for the big names ie. Metricon, Burbank, etc etc. Better to give a smaller company a go! Building a Lillie with a 1m extension and 9foot ceilings. Soil test should be sometime this week. How long in weeks was the commencement ie. slab was poured? I have visited a Lillie in Hunt Club, but its not complete yet. Good to see how the design looks in the flesh. The permit Date said 01 / 07 / 08 and today is 16 /03 / 09 , that means 8 months??? Yet when I signed up they said after the slab is poured (around 4-6 weeks to get permit) then its 16-20 weeks for completion! Who was the sales consultant you went through? So far so good, however at first they seemed to be in a hurry to get you to sign contracts etc. Interesting to hear what your experiences are with Frenken Homes. Cheers KM Melington - what a cool concept! Re: New To The Forum - Building With Frenken Homes 8Mar 26, 2009 10:46 pm Hi Slingerman, I'm planning to build with Frenken in Berwick too and would like to know about experience so far...How was the soil test results and so on? Still wondering whether there can be unexpected costs since if that happens I will be a bit stuck in the budgets. Do we need a conveyancer check the contracts before we sign..i think thats normally required for house transfer rather than newland/home packages. Also did you find any good home loans for this purpose? Wish you good luck with all your construction stuff! Have a great night! Re: New To The Forum - Building With Frenken Homes 10Apr 09, 2009 12:39 pm Hey, 123 guys! lol hehe are you all the same? Lol. I signed off on revised contracts for the house and Conveyancer is in process of trying to work out who the land deposit needs to be paid to???! Anyway slab laying is probably about 8 weeks - 2months off, due to City of Casey approvals being flat chat I guess (Growth corridor much!) Have got a rear fence and easement "fencettes" as no houses will be built behind mine! Works out ok as I will only have to pay for each side fence! It all seems to be taking ages for things to start happening... Just gotta be patient I guess. Cheers, Slingerman Melington - what a cool concept! Re: New To The Forum - Building With Frenken Homes 11Apr 09, 2009 9:00 pm I've heard some good things about Frenken homes. I was going to originally build with them (Gracie floor plan), but in the end decided to go with Burbank. My cousin on the other hand is building with Frenken. Good luck with the build chief! Lol. Hi slingerman, I'm unique and not any other 123 To be frank, I signed in to the forum after reading this thread and was lazy inventing a new nick name so copied tony's 123 part (sorry tony) BTW, what were the changes in your contract before you signed? I'm at the same stage and did not sign the house contract yet...and a bit curious if I run out of time if I try to consider many changes to their contract! My gut feeling says to check on the basics and just sign the stuff..what do you think? How was Frenken with these 'revisions'? Would like to hear abt your experience.
