Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 12, 2019 1:10 pm Hi We are trying to get a list of items required by the builder if we go ahead with the variation to supply powerpoints and switches. The builder has refused to provide a list of items required by them as per follows: As far as the electrical list of items goes, this is not something we provide when client is supplying the product. I would suggest you look at the electrical plan for the list of items required and quantises as this is what will be wired for onsite as per the plan. Does this seem a little petty as I would have thought if they are happy for the items to be provided they would have wanted to make sure they get everything correct? I would also have expected they had the list as a way to calculate the provisional sum which they have said will not change - we have added electrical items since the PS was provided. Is my builder just trying to be difficult for the fun of it? Re: Owner Supplied electrical points 2Jun 12, 2019 2:09 pm Hi, I guess to view it from the builders perspective; they are no longer receiving a margin when you supply your own products so why would they manage the process and do the work for you? Something you may also want to be aware of is the builder will not warranty any owner supplied products or flow on effects. Do you have a copy, or, have you drawn an electrical plan? Can you not just take the quantities from there? Hope this helps, Laurence Re: Owner Supplied electrical points 3Jun 12, 2019 2:13 pm Well they are not supplying the items, Just go through electrical plan & work out what is required. Make sure you specify correct wiring requirements for what your planning to put in, for example Clipsal Saturn/Saturn Zen switches & Iconic bluetooth mechs require a neutral wire. I have owner supplied a number of items (face bricks; tiles; bath; door hardware; heated towel rails). I have also managed to secure a number of 'after handover' items… 5 1325 What lighting is above the island bench? Crazay idea... maybe you could put a power point in the overhead cupboards and use an extension cord and drape it over a light… 14 1964 Otherwise you have this on the outside of your new home... Very nice..! Stewie 2 830 |
