I like how you used that space and made the bedroom 3 bigger. The entry to the master bedroom is through the meals, not much privacy. Can we do something about it.? Re: Advice on customised floor plan 5Jun 06, 2019 1:15 pm You have to turn right once you go through the master bedroom door, and from the meals area you can only see that wall which is making you turn right as you enter the master. The only angle from which you can see into that master bedroom is from the end of the island bench in the kitchen; but before bestspecials made the change, you could see as much of the master bedroom from the hall outside the activity area. I don't think there's any more of a view into the master, overall? Re: Advice on customised floor plan 6Jun 06, 2019 1:40 pm Ntandon5 Thanks for the reply. Can we do something about it.? I don't think you will even notice the nooks in the hallway once it is built. It will stop there being a straight view into the rest of the house from the front door. As to the entry from the meals. It isn't really as the meals is in front of the island bench. I would be more concerned with the 2+ metres between the end of the island bench and the bathroom wall in the original plan. There isn't anything you could really do with that space. Re: Advice on customised floor plan 9Jun 09, 2019 8:25 pm Hi bestspecials Any thoughts on kitchen layout? And the size of meals area? Just a bit anxious before I sign a contract 😊 Re: Advice on customised floor plan 11Jun 09, 2019 10:51 pm ...and you probably already know the front bedroom door blocks the entry to the ensuite? Not sure what other option you have other than flip the entry to ensuite<>robe? Or maybe a 180 deg hinge on the bedroom door? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check our Homeone build blog here Re: Advice on customised floor plan 12Jun 10, 2019 3:40 am darb74 ...and you probably already know the front bedroom door blocks the entry to the ensuite? I am thinking of adding a WIR and then entry to ensure from the other end of the room. If it works. Thanks for that. Re: Advice on customised floor plan 13Jun 10, 2019 3:43 am darb74 Why don’t you position the oven/cooktop on the bench opposite the island? Not sure I would want both sink and cooktop beside each other? It looked good in a display home 😬 . I am not sure now. Re: Advice on customised floor plan 14Jun 10, 2019 8:53 pm Don’t worry too much some of these things are just personal preference. With the kitchen try to envisage being in there and how you will use it. Eg. Do you have enough space between cooktop and sink area to place dirty dishes...and cooking related stuff? Also what will you likely use the two other ‘clear’ benchtops for? End of the day you and your family have to live there. If you keep the sink and cooktop together, only thing I would suggest is pay attention to which side you want the drain pan on when washing up --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check our Homeone build blog here Re: Advice on customised floor plan 15Jun 10, 2019 9:26 pm darb74 Don’t worry too much some of these things are just personal preference. There is not much space between the cook top and sink. I am thinking of moving the fridge outside with cabinetry around it. And then move the sink inside maybe. Re: Advice on customised floor plan 18Jun 12, 2019 11:44 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have to say that I agree with darb74 - I don't really understand the flow of the kitchen. The cooktop and the sink are too close together, and there's not really enough room next to the cooktop on either side, especially on the side where things might just get knocked off the edge. Then you've got yourself a dead corner between the sink and the fridge. I'm assuming that is a window splashback, which is why you've placed the cooktop and sink there, so you can have views and light when cooking and washing up? But I think you're working too hard to put both appliances there, and it's ended up getting cramped. They're not centred on the window either, which would make it aesthetically look a bit lop-sided. As for the two empty benches, what are you planning to use them for? If you're planning to use the island bench as a breakfast bar, it is only 80cm deep, which is enough for a row of barstools to sit on one side, but not enough for anyone to do anything on the other side of the island. At the end of the day, it is your personal preference and the way you use your kitchen may be different from how others use it. But I would visit some more display houses and kitchen showrooms to get an idea of what a typical kitchen layout looks like and why they are designed that way. There is definitely not enough space between cook top and sink. Also I might move the fridge outside where the second bench top is and have cabinetary all around. Let's see.. I will update the revised floor plan. Re: Advice on customised floor plan 20Jun 13, 2019 12:40 am amilelka Having a sink next to cooktop can work really well. It's great for filling pots with water (soups, pasta) without moving it across the whole kitchen. Yes that was the whole point but there is not much space between cook top and sink so might have to move the sink where the fridge is and move fridge outside. i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17592 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
