Re the brickwork, Kevin says that the lintel above the window expands when it is hot and can cause cracking the brickwork unless there is enough weight above from the bricks. The third course can be in the roof space. Anyhow, apparently this is per the building code which is our primary argument obviously. Shall let you know how we get on this week. Definitely keep us updated!! Will be something for me took out for as well. Good luck with it all... You will be in soon!!! A couple of days later than anticipated, but that is ok as we would rather everything was done, plus we have been able to put the timber flooring layers off for a day until the Friday. So despite the delay, we will still move as planned on Wednesday 17 June - that is 14 more sleeps. Yaaaay!!!! Carlisle have resolved everything to our satisfaction - the downpipe will be improved and re the bricks, they have agreed to extend the warranty with respect to this item. Dale received calls from one of the directors of the company yesterday and again today. So all good and very excited. Our long weekend will be spent packing mostly - oh and heading up to the house to look through the windows! S&P you should post some photos. If we all waited until we thought our places were perfect then we would never put anything on here... You house is looking very stunning, I also love the undermount sinks, i think it looks awesome! Lucky you guys dont have to wait too long for your timber floors. Good way to spend the long weekend, packing and preparing to move to your lovely new house. Good luck for next week Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: Building Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - PCI done and more photos 247Jun 04, 2009 1:32 pm Thanks Wonderland. The undermount kitchen sinks were one of my must have upgrades! And then we decided to splash out on upgrading the ensuite too... Very excited and counting the sleeps now. 13 sleeps until we move! Everything pretty organised, so great to have the floors booked for straight away. We will move on the Wednesday following handover and have the rest of that week off work. On move day the bedroom curtains and ensuite and bathroom blinds will be put in and then the next day we have appliances, Telstra and all sorts happening. Unfortunately will have the first two nights without the heating connected... Oh and the new sofas should be delivered in those first couple of days too. So was great to have a wander through and tick off what has been done. Still some work to do, so hopefully all done before handover on Thursday. Our spa is in! Correct one this time with the air jets on the floor. Definitely looking forward to that first spa, shall be just like a weekend away for a while I reckon. Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: Building Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - HANDOVER THIS THURSDAY! 254Jun 11, 2009 10:23 pm Thanks for the good wishes! Yes we have had handover - we have keys. Yaaaay! It has been a long and exhausting day and I am almost off to bed and unfortunately have to get up for work tomorrow.... blah. Anyhow, today we met with our SS at the house at 10.30 for the final inspection. There are still a few things left on the to do list which is, to be honest, a bit disappointing, but nothing really major and most of it is already scheduled. So we got over that! Then an hours drive to the Carlisle office for the actual handover. That was all pretty straight forward and we also got presents! A Hafele brand cordless kettle and toaster. Not quite sure about how this cordless toaster really has any advantage, but shall see. Always nice to get a pressie anyhow. Then a quick stop at home to grab vacuum and cleaning stuff etc, and back up towards the house with a reasonably long stop at Bunnings on the way. Just long enough to spend $500+ . Then finally finally using our keys to open up our house around 6pm. Not exactly happy about the cleanliness of the house... so needed to sweep up more mud so all ok for the timber floor guys tomorrow. Mostly we went up so could leave a key out for them. Very excited about the timber going in tomorrow. So after all that, then a meal at the pub and an hour drive home - landed here just after 9pm tonight. A long day. No new photos today. Will definitely take some tomorrow night with the timber in. Should totally transform the place. So glad the build has all gone fairly well How long was the build time in the end? Are there any areas of the house where you can noticably see the difference between the 36 and 32 sq versions? I saw a 32 atlantique and the home theatre was tiny compared to the 36sq version! Can't wait for pics with the flooring!! Our build took 6 months, almost to the day. We did however also have Christmas and Easter in there and not a lot happened before new year, so I more think of it as a January start anyway. So pretty good I reckon. Re the size - I know our lounge is bigger than the 36 because we moved the external wall as you are doing too! As for the reductions in size, I guess it is a little everywhere. The minor bedrooms aren't huge but will be absolutely fine. Shall be good to get furniture in to feel the room size properly. I think with the Atlantique compared to the Monaco, you have 4 living areas rather than three as standard, so each is smaller than the Monaco I think. So reducing to the 32 must reduce each of these. Timber men have already started today. We will be heading up straight after work to check it all out. Will be great to see the change.
