I like those types of kitchens going for the netutral, all white theme. Our island doesnt have any joins too, luckily, and the only join is in the back corner, not very visible. Good idea about your rendering, I think with your nice expensive bricks, they are a feature themselves and probably wont even need render! Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! I love your snow benchtop, we also got snow and i think it looks lovely with your white cupboards. I forgot which type of timber floors you were getting? Anyways, it would add colour to the kitchen very nicely. Well done, you have been spot on with your colour selections, just LOVE it! WOW handover soon, congrats! Cant wait for the pictures of the tiling when it starts this week, very thing seems to be running pretty smoothly. I also like your idea of getting the timber benches incorporated into your deck, that would look awesome. Great work, awesome awesome awesome!!! We have been lucky with a very smooth build. The things that have gone wrong have been easily fixed, and nothing too major either. Our floors are a hand scraped American Oak in a mid brown colour. We have a small sample that I took photos of for the blog, but that doesn't do it justice. I am hanging out for the flooring to be done, which is of course after handover. Just hoping all the other colour selections work out as they do in my head! I have been laying in bed this morning day dreaming about which pictures go on what wall too We have a couple of big walls to think about. Your kitchen will look beautiful with the splashback and flooring.. Looking forward to seeing the tiling! Good luck with the rest of the build!! Hopefully all the mistakes you have picked up are fixed with no problems. Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! We are hanging out for the tiling too. Was originally meant to be two weeks ago, then last week, and now this week... NOt much to do after that really. We are now at the stage of realising things we should have done - mainly with the electrics with some extra light switches or different location etc. Have you done your electrical plan yet? If so, I can let you know our mistakes to watch out for! All stuff that can be fixed afterwards, just a pain. Added a few light switches (2 way, 3 way etc), also moved a few others to group them up. If you have any comments we would really appreciate them however! We have done our tender but if anything big pops up could possibly see if they could change it. BTW I just sent you our electrical plan Hopefully there are no more delays with the tiler and you are in there soon! Se exciting!!! Anyhow, the things we have noticed - the light switches for the ensuite by default are on the right as you walk in (for us, not sure if you are same orientation) - which is towards the loo and the wall the switch is on is the most logical for the towel rails. So the switch will likely be in the way. We will change to the left, on the spa side. - also, the light switch for the robe is only on one side, and it would make sense to have a switch on each side for the one light - and stupidly, we somehow neglected to put in lights out the front on the garage to ensure well lit for people walking up. We have a sensor light for the porch, so will probably move the sensor location and link it up to some other lights in addition. Will get done after handover. We both thought we had a floodlight in and didn't! - oh, and we have two floodlights on the side, one outside laundry and one added outside bedroom. We now think would be best if the switches are linked. I think for everyone there will be things that you realise would work better another way, no necessarily just electrics. Happy to share our little stuff ups in case they can help. We have actually taken into account the last 3 points already (I think). There is a junction box on the other side of the garage facing the front, a two way switch for the robes and linking between outside lights. Will go back and have a look at the plan for the towel rail location though. Had never thought about the switches getting in the way!! Thanks very much for your tips later on we might speak to you about downlights i.e. where we should put them and how many we need, particularly for the massive back area! Instead of having to walk further from the main bedroom entrance to turn the light on (if it was to be on the side near the spa), could just put the switch on the other side of the wall (from where it is now) so it could be turned on as you walk in. Hopefully I explained that properly! We will ring our CLE tomorrow about that. Need to get hold of her about upgrading heating too... We thought of that yesterday, but the entrance to the ensuite is a nice feature and built out a little. So to not ruin that would need to be further along. Still a longish walk for the person on the other side of the bed! I'll probably be closest to the door that is why we needed the 2 way switch for the robes! Glen wasn't happy walking to my side to turn the light on I don't think it will make much diff if the powerpoint is just on the other side of the wall. And Glen agreed to that!! It will be just next to the opening still so no further than before In the process of trying to upgrade heating to the same one as you. They were only offering the ME35I or HE30I. Hopefully you can get the heating upgrade you are after. Dale is obsessed with good heating and cooling. Our bonus offer had evap cooling included. Our rental at the moment had crappy heating, so hence hanging out to get in before winter totally sets in. Cheers, Sam Re: Building Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - New photos 25/4 175Apr 27, 2009 10:37 pm Hi Sam - we requested an upgrade to 4 star heating and the doc say it is a Brivas ME301. Upgrade price was $594 for us a few months ago. We also paid $455 to have two zones for the heating. I hope you win! Jo Settled In - Home Search and Relocation Services - http://www.settledin.com.au http://www.movingbacktotassie.blogspot.com/ viewtopic.php?t=9571 Re: Building Our Carlisle Monaco 32 - New photos 25/4 176Apr 27, 2009 11:07 pm We are also trying to upgrade to the ME30I. Hopefully around the same cost as Jo!! These prices do seem to inflate quite a bit though. Jo, where are your 2 zones? Do they need to be totally closed off from one another to be effective? Zones would probably be a good idea!! I hadn't thought of that before. Thanks!! BTW Sam, the upgrade includes a bit extra heat flow, but a pretty decent increase in energy efficiency. The upgrade unit will also include a programmable controller, that I don't think the standard unit has. We called a company called Coldflow, who were able to give us a good comparison. I think they may have mentioned the standard unit is also noisier? Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! Not really any other way to split really. Obviously the zones aren't separated by a closing door which probably isn't ideal, but still means less ducts on sometimes when not needed. I want it sooner of course! Hopefully handover won't be too long from there. So up to the house yesterday to check out the tiling and whatever else had got done in the week. Tiling done, except for grout, plus downpipes on and spa and bath in. However, a few stuff ups... - spa doesn't have the very expensive upgrade air jet system installed - laundry wall tiles laid in wrong pattern, should be brickbond - downpipes wrong colour, should be ironstone to tie in with bricks Anyhow, all that reported to SS and hopefully fixed quickly. Some photos now. More blurb on the blog. Facade - wrong downpipe and wet pier (hopefully concealed downpipe fixed now) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite. Can't get spa in the photo.
