Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 19, 2008 1:21 pm Hey PD people
Can anyone tell me if you upgraded the locks on their standard sliding doors? In our current house we have a standard sliding door with the lock on the door itself and a bolt that goes in the top of the sliding door. I just spoke to my CSC and she said PD standard is just the lock on the door that can be keyed open from the outside. She said most people don't feel the need to upgrade any further but it is an option. Did anyone take this option? How much more expensive was it? What additional lock/s did it give you? Thanks again My karma ran over your dogma Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 2Sep 19, 2008 2:00 pm nope...we didnt even thinking about extra locks on the sliding door...
but a tip...just in case u miss it like we did! make sure u know which way ur sliding door is sliding....ehhehe...cos we didnt take notice and one of our sliding doors is sliding towards the house (which means the opening/door) is on the external wall side) ....i dont know if that made much sense...but just check u know which way ur doors are sliding anyway Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 3Sep 19, 2008 6:03 pm Thanks Newbies
I just checked on both our sliding doors ( 2 sets leading out to Alfresco) and both open from the centre outwards each way, is this what you mean? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 4Sep 19, 2008 6:14 pm heheh i dont think i made any sense...hehehe
we haev two sets of sliding doors...one in the middle...which has two doors and opens our from the middle...which isnt a problem... but the other one we have is on the side (leading into the alfresco) of our dining room....so this one...when u slide it, it slides to the left (which is sliding into our house) so the opening of the sliding door is on the right...which is the side that is farther away from our house...? did that make sense? hehehe if urs'd open from the center outwards each way, then u dont ahve a prob! hehehe...that means u have 2 of the ones that we have in the middle....hehhehehehe... maybe i'll post a pic... heheh i think this makes more sense with a photo.... so our opening is on the other side...and really i wanted it on the other side...but fiance tell's me to stop sooking about it, cos there is nothing we can do...i suppose i'll learn to love that slider... hehehehehe Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 7Sep 19, 2008 6:25 pm heheh cool! heheheh
so after such a long winded post....have u decided on whether u will upgrade the locks? hehehe u are so so so much more organised than i ever was...and i thought i was organised! hehehehe Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 8Sep 19, 2008 6:37 pm I think I will just keep them standard and add any extra locks (if we think they are needed) after handover....
You are very organised too - its only because I have had so much time on my hands, don't worry i have still had like 15 PCVs and they are still coming My karma ran over your dogma Re: Sliding doors - PD standard locks 9Sep 19, 2008 7:11 pm Newbies Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ heheh i think this makes more sense with a photo.... so our opening is on the other side...and really i wanted it on the other side...but fiance tell's me to stop sooking about it, cos there is nothing we can do...i suppose i'll learn to love that slider... hehehehehe Ours is exactly like this. I think they do it this way more for balance - the two corners of the alfresco are like the anchor points where the doors emerge from. It helps create a more visual balance. If u like at examples of such settings but with bifold doors u will notice that the doors all open and end at the same point. I hope that made sense... In terms of the original topic we just stayed with standard locks. I'm too short for any type of locks that is mounted above the doors. Like the one in our masterbedroom. I need a ladder just to get to it. Will have to think of which way our doors slide as well.
