My cottage is 4m from king tide and breaking surf (Frederick Henry bay Tas) and I expected more corrosion but it has not been too bad. Building regulations will have provision for use of galvanised steel and SS brick ties so if well built you should be OK. You have to remember that a building surveyor will ensure compliance (minimum standard) but you can always and should do more. Your building designer should be able to advise your options. Used the wrong term I cannot think that designer from a volume builder would ever give a toss to make all the elements comply to be in my favour.
