Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2019 11:38 am Hello! We are looking to install a timber dividing partition in our en-suite. We built a open plan en-suite which we love however we always had plans to put a timber divider up for a little more privacy. I have had a lot of trouble getting replies from carpenters and businesses. One has now reached out offering $1200 to complete the job. I’m not sure on what materials are included in this quote (type of timber and finish), but can anyone advise whether this is a reasonable quote? I’ve attached some pictures for reference My en-suite: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Divider to run from floor to ceiling length of bath: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Feature Timber Partition in En-suite - Help! 2May 09, 2019 10:17 am I can't answer your specific question from experience, sorry - hopefully there will be others who know what the cost of getting custom things like that built normally is. And in total isolation - when an entire staircase can cost <$2k, it does sound a bit on the expensive side. However, if that price is everything including installing etc, then when I properly think about it it's not that bad. They've got to come to you, it has to be built onsite, it's not a pre-made thing they're producing in bulk & just taking half an hour to nail in place. Getting anything bespoke made costs money, and without knowing what a bespoke thing like that should cost, to me that price seems fair compared to the cost of a house for the utility/use you'll get out of it. Re: Feature Timber Partition in En-suite - Help! 3May 09, 2019 2:05 pm What timber have they quoted as using? (you will need to ensure it will resist moisture/rot) sounds quite reasonable to me TBH, but yeah obviously will depend on fit finish which you wont know until the do job (unhelpful I know!)
