Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 17, 2019 8:32 am Hi guys Just after a few opinions are we being too fussy? A few of our window frames were split from nails I assume and we have told our ss about it and I noticed last night they weren’t replaced they have just put the boarders around them and I guess plan on putty filling them. Is this quite common or should I stick to my guns and get them replaced? Also noticed the windows next too each other the frames aren’t level will they fix this or? The main one one the sliding door I notice they used liquid nails and screwed it together tighter. I'm not worried about it as I know it will be painted over and it's not a structural item. To fix the issue would likely involved removing the entire window/door and my concern always is do they cause more damage trying to fix it?! With the architraves not aligning perfectly, I think this should be fixed up and probably will be by simply sanding or planing back? But not sure TBH. Overall I think these issues are very minor, and if you feel the builder has generally done ok with everything else so far I would consider going easy on them. The way I look at it, is you need to pick your battles. If you do ask for certain things later to be fixed always remind them of the mis-aligned arch's you didn't hassle them about! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Check our Homeone build blog here Re: Am I being too fussy?? 3May 17, 2019 11:28 am darb74 Howdy, Re: the split in the window 'reveal' we've got a couple I have noticed on our build. Thanks for your input and I’m glad to know it’s common so I think I’ll just leave it and keep a eye on it if they liquid nail and screw it in nice and tight I’ll be happy with that! Our ss has been fantastic so I’m trying to be easy on him haha we are just really fussy but he has let us do so much like insulate the internal walls ourself , install a gas line in the alfresco , even knock down a gyprock wall so we could install cable tubes in the walls and he’s also getting more power points installed with us so he is really great thankfully 😅 My garage door has started playing up recently.
