Just wondering if anyone has any pics, or can point me in the direction of some with surfmist for the colorbond roof colour? We are building the Kingsford 270 with National Builders, with the colonial facade. There are absolutely no houses with this colour roof around us, and 99% of the houses in our estate are dark grey tile. I'm a bit scared of building a 'white elephant' that will stand out for all the wrong reasons. I'm wondering how it looks with bricks, I know it looks great with cladding. Thanks Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 2Sep 18, 2008 9:49 am I can't remember exactly but I don't think anyone on here is using surfmist for a roof..... maybe someone in Qld is tossing the idea around.... but a few are using it for the garage I think..... Michelle will probably have some pics...
When the forum users that are more technologically advance than me log on, I'm sure they'll post some pics for you. Then everyone will give you their opinion! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I found it a bit hard to get decent photos of the roof, as it takes on a lot of the sky colour, which is a nice effect. We like our roof! I guess God didn't use subbies... Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 4Sep 18, 2008 10:00 am Mr T... I didn't realise yours was surfmist. Your house looks great! What colour is the guttering? Deep ocean? Blue ridge? It's hard to tell....
Velcro.... what other colours/bricks are you thinking of having? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 5Sep 18, 2008 10:11 am Thanks, Mr T, your house does look great! I think the effect against the sky looks good too.
As far as other colours go, I am a lover of light colours. So the fascia, windows and gables will probably be something along the lines of white, paperbark or cream. The bricks I'm not sure of, maybe a red, although I do know that I want a brick with a mixture of colours to fit with the colonial style. Maybe a red with a bit of lighter mix through it? Not really sure exactly, trying to suss out some ideas. I have a friend who by coincidence has built the same house, with the same facade (I swear I didnt mean to copy, its just turned out that way!) and she has dark grey tiles, with dark grey and wood trims and red/brown bricks. Our house will also have eaves which will change the look a bit from theirs. Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 7Sep 18, 2008 10:14 am Velcro... I think that sounds great..... but I can assure you I'm no guru... the bricks Mr T used would be perfect... just copy Mr T.
Seriously... bricks like Mr T.... white mortar.... same window colour as Mr T it will look really good. I wouldn't worry about creating a white elephant. What you're suggesting isn't out there and weird.... around the newer northern suburbs there's a few houses looking like this.... I got lost on the way home from Wallan trying to take a shortcut... I don't know where I was..... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 8Sep 18, 2008 10:26 am Hi - other colours:
Gutters: Deep Ocean (which is also the colour of the portico render) Fascia: Sandbank (which is meant to be the colour of the upstairs render) Bricks: Austral - Settler Lawson - these are just Category 1 bricks, and we thought they looked really good given how cheap they were. Colours in this photo are not quite "as they are", as I photoshopped this one to better show up the stairs which has just been built when I took it. Will see if I have anything else that better reflects the true colours. I guess God didn't use subbies... Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 9Sep 18, 2008 10:29 am Mr T, I thought the brick may be Settler Lawson.... I think they are such a wonderful and versatile brick. And Category 1!!!
We picked a different brick from the same range Settler Lonsdale.... the Settler series are pretty much my favourites. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 10Sep 18, 2008 10:41 am I really like your bricks! Thanks I will keep that one in mind.
Deep Ocean is a lovely colour, our current house (just sold) we totally renovated in classic cream and deep ocean. The picket fence, garage, gutters fascia etc. its a really really nice colour, and if I was to pick a darker colour for something it would probably be that. Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 11Sep 18, 2008 2:33 pm We used it on our first build.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/alphabetty_album/front.jpg I think it looks 'fresh' and are hoping to use it again on our next build. It looks great with white window frames and with white shutters, almost hamptons'y' Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 12Sep 18, 2008 2:51 pm Oh, that house is beautiful, you certainly did a good job with that one!
Is surfmist too similar to white to use on things like fascia and gables, if I was going to do white gutters, and white windows? Just wondering if there is enough difference or if it would be better to introduce another colour and just leave surfmist for the roof. If I knew how to put pics up I would attach a pic of the facade we are looking at, but I don't have a clue. Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 14Sep 18, 2008 4:33 pm Hi velcro,
Its called Anthracite by Solver (they colourmatch with Dulux. Surfmist is quite a popular colour in the west, check some of the WA builders websites out apghomes.com.au dalealcock.com.au wbhomes.com.au Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 15Sep 18, 2008 6:09 pm Ours is still under construction but here it is:
I'm not sure if you can see the colours well in the glare of the light, but the roof appears white. The garage door is also surfmist. The walls are light grey, and there will be light grey stackstone to cover the brick parts. Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 16Sep 18, 2008 7:13 pm Oh I love surfmist...
that's one of my favourites but we can only choose dark-coloured roof... so out is the surfmist. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 17Sep 18, 2008 8:39 pm All your houses look great with surfmist, they look beachy and fresh. I thought I was having it until donuts mentioned Dune, it could be that. I know we are having Surfmist garage, I can't believe I can't remember. Anyway, whatever it is no-one will see it anyway, cause it's flat. Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 18Sep 18, 2008 9:05 pm We almost went with surf mist but instead went for shale grey, I really think that in hot sunny climates you want a roof that can reflect as much heat as possible .
regards sean Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 19Sep 19, 2008 11:58 pm Just thought I'd update with a picture that shows the house colours more like they "really" are - although it all depends on the light, time of day, cloud cover etc...
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ - and joles, our tiles are laid, now just need to see if they have been grouted, and I'll try and take some pictures... I guess God didn't use subbies... Re: Anyone got a colorbond surfmist roof? 20Sep 21, 2008 8:28 pm amilelka love your home
could you tell me what colour the house render is I am looking for a light grey to go with my surfmist roof I would like to add a bit of dune to pillars and entrance area do you think it would go Thank you so much. We ended going with the terrain that’s part of our brick. 2 2533 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10206 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18563 |
