Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 12, 2019 11:45 am We're spending a lot of money on our new forever house, building 40sq house and 24x12 shed and pool on 5 acres and have already hit our budget. I've always been a bit hesitant about vinyl planks but I also know they've come a long way and everyone seems to use them in builds these days! We can't afford real timber so I've chosen the same floor tile we used in our last build 8 years ago? OR still considering Karndean or Hartridge luxury vinyl planks. I've seen some beautiful ones but in the back of my mind I can't help but think it might de-value my home. I feel like a vinyl snob?!! Thoughts? Pics? There’s another forum topic “Flooring & floor covering” which discusses vinyl planks and also a number of photos have been posted. We are in a the process of building a house and considering laying Heartridge long board luxury vinyl planks. They are not a cheap product by any means, but I’m looking at them as a more practical option for cleaning and for wear and tear (they can be pulled up and replaced). Our last house had large format tiles and they were hard work to keep clean. The best advice is to visit retailers that stock these products and have a floor display so you can compare to other flooring. You’ll also find some vinyl planks are only 2mm thick, while Heartridge and Karndean are 5mm thick and good quality. Re: Vinyl Planks- do you think they can 'cheapen' a home? 3Apr 12, 2019 1:33 pm I have LVP and I think its a good investment. Will those last forever - certainly not. Cheap LVP products look cheap. Premium product will also need replacement eventually. LVP will not gracefully age like stone or timber. On the other hand, tiles can often date and then it’s a horrendous job getting them pulled up. What size nails and how many… 0 8370 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13769 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6631 |
