Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 03, 2019 8:35 pm Hi , I am looking to buy a property which is really rundown. Planning to rebuild on the land block but what I just found is on nature stipe front of the house right in the middle there is an electrical pole. I contacted one of the builder and they suggested I have to pay around $60k more due to work hazard it causes. Just wondering, is that much it cost just to bypass overhead electrical power line and a pole during construction. Cheers , K Hey Krezykangaroo, We did same and ours has a power pole directly out the front. We went through a volume builder and the only cost (thus far at least) has been for tigertails to be installed on overhead powerlines (which they provisionally costed at $3500 - though I've read some people paid around $6000). The power to the new property is now underground so that cuts out one line. Our new build is set back about 9 metres from front boundary so potentially if you're planning to build closer, then that distance might have more impact on the hazard and subsequent price? I'll post a photo so you can see our set up. ... Re: Knockdown and rebuild 3Apr 03, 2019 9:48 pm Krezykangaroo Hi , I am looking to buy a property which is really rundown. Cheers , K Oh, and our nature-strip is pretty non-existent, so the power pole is like 1 metre off our front boundary too.
