Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2019 10:47 pm Hi all, the back half of our new house that is soon to begin construction will have a suspended slab using bondek formwork (slope in the back part of the block). Given there will be limited space and access under the slab, and therefore near impossible to insulate underneath, I am wondering if there is a way to insulate over the top of bondek before the concrete is poured? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Re: Insulate on top of bondek 2Mar 23, 2019 3:06 am Yes, you install something similar to: https://www.knaufinsulation.gr/en/produ ... -pod-extra and then wet screed on top. Re: Insulate on top of bondek 3Mar 23, 2019 3:52 pm Thanks for the reply Alexp79. Excuse my ignorance though (I have no idea). Would that involve placing the insulation on top of the steel sheeting? What about the ribs that stick out? Are there other insulation products that people know of? Re: Insulate on top of bondek 6Mar 23, 2019 8:24 pm The embossed ribs on the Bondek provide the challenge, to any inserted insulation, as the ribs are there to grip the concrete. Sure you wouldn't prefer to go a prefabricated aerated slab way if you are committed to concrete and insulation? Re: Insulate on top of bondek 8Mar 23, 2019 11:18 pm What's the Hebel Power Floor these days? $100 sm? So with joists and installation you could be up for quite a bit. There's a really thick Hebel Power Floor Plus around, too, don't know anything about that product.
