Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2019 10:29 pm Hi, I will have 3 meter ceilings in our new house, but I dont know how high my windows and doors should go. Could I get away with 2400 high or should they be 2700 high to keep the proportion? What have others done? window size to ceiling height 2Mar 23, 2019 7:22 am If cost is an issue, you could go 2700 in the more public areas of the house and lower in the private/utility areas. Just make sure the two heights are not next to each other! Re: window size to ceiling height 3Mar 23, 2019 9:06 am If you want the full effect of high ceilings you should have your windows at a taller head height. Otherwise your ceilings won't have the same impact you are after. Standard 2.1m high windows would not look good. We have a split level living/dining/kitchen with 2.7m - 3m ceilings. Our internal doors are 2.4m while our windows go all the way to the ceiling with a shadow line cornice. Our other rooms have 2.4m doors and 2.4m head heights for the windows. It is important to consider the head heights of your windows and doors so there is consistency within each room. However 2.7m internal doors are non standard and look disproportionate. It could look better to have standard doors and window heights but then add highlight windows above them to make the most of the space. ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7757 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9578 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16026 |
