Many thanks.
Australian Consumer Law (ACL) states that: consumers are entitled to an invoice that includes
- how the price was worked out,
- the number of labour hours,
- hourly rate,
- materials used,
- the amount charged for them
While some builders may not like this, they are an Australian business and not above the law. They are required by law to provide an itemised invoice when requested to do so by the client.
When builders don’t comply, a complaint should be lodged by the client with the ACCC or the relevant body within each state.
So next time I go to Coles and do my shopping I can request an itemised invoice with all the details noted above?
Can you please provide the reference to this ACL.
I can pretty much guarantee you are incorrect.
You are incorrect, and you should not try to compare apples with oranges. Builders provide a service and Coles sells products. Most people pay at the cash register for products they purchase instead of receiving an invoice. But I am sure that Coles would provide all those details if they’d invoiced and the customer would request itemisation. They would not be trying to make-up their own laws or bully their customers like some builders do!
