Means we cant use colorbond but have to use Klip Lok which is more expensive. Now all I can do is laugh this probably explains difference in eaves, etc. as otherwise if trusses were pre-fab via computerised process, you wouldn't be expecting any issues you are experiencing. Thought the carpenter would have picked up on pitch of roof ? Re: Builder threats to sue for defamation/injurious Falsehoo 105Apr 01, 2019 1:18 pm I know this is minor in the scheme of things, but I like how in your first photos the nail barely makes it into the wood. Is it worth keeping the windows etc and starting again? Sorry to read about your problems but good to hear things are progressing for you. Now all I can do is laugh The photo you posted shows LVL timbers , am I correct in saying it’s a skilion roof , no trusses in photo , is it the ore fab frames that are incorrect ? Thought the carpenter would have picked up on pitch of roof ? Its a combination of Skillion and trusses. The carpenter didnt read the plans properly and in areas completely missed the eaves. At the front of the house the approved plans showed a 610mm eave across the front facade and this was completely missing. With the skillion roof the eaves were supposed to be 960mm and he cut them to 610mm The guy either couldnt read a construction plan or simply didnt bother Unfortunatey I have come across the same thing many times by guys who claim to be builders and “fully qualified “ Coming from uk I find the whole system a bit of a joke , I have had a certifier who have signed off on jobs with out getting out of their car , just asked if everything was ok when I said yes , it was seeuou next time . Re: Builder threats to sue for defamation/injurious Falsehoo 113Apr 10, 2019 8:03 am Yes, same with Metricon. 0n my place they signed off on a defective slab, crooked brickwork, mis-aligned frame, defective waterproofing, illegal plumbing.... They just check the job is done, not the quality or if it’s to spec so they can issue the progress payment invoice. No problems! These defects can be addressed later when they have your money, in their own time, and at your expense if you want them fixed. Beware. Maybe with this industry slowdown some of these pretenders will be out of business by the end of the year. I hear through my industry sources that another major builder just laid of a heap of supervisors. My wardrobe guy is telling me that he literally has no work for his boys and last week they had to sit at home. I am hearing the same story from a number of trades and suppliers. I am hoping your house gets finished by the new builder and an action is taken against the builder who has not shown any dignity in their work let alone competency.
