So my new house (KDR) is near completion ahead of schedule, and I am turning my attention to the outside. I want to concrete/pave the side of the house where shown, add a fence and install proper drainage. The problem is that the neighbours are at a higher level (green line is ground level and they have a small retaining wall about 200mm from the fence). I am on very good terms with the neighbours and they are willing to cooperate on a solution.
The best way as I see it is to fill and concrete / pave the whole area, right up to the neighbours' retaining wall. Have it sloping from both sides to a surface drain on my side into the stormwater. I would need to do the fence posts before this
Alternatively just concrete/ pave alongside side my house to a surface drain, and leave the dirt on the other side
Or is there a better way of doing this??

It's a tricky problem - i'm facing the same issue.
I've got about 1.6m between the retaining wall and my house. My plans is to run an 80cm wide concrete path out from the house (doubling as a termite barrier) and in the remaining ~80cm (which has gully drains installed) have a narrow garden with some nice screening plants to cover the fence.

It's interesting how useful it is to be able to see the edge of the concrete slab, under the first row of bricks, so that an owner can be quickly aware of any termite tracking. Not the best aesthetic look but not a bad idea in the long-term. (Last time I'm ever going to mention this aspect of building design on The Forum!)
