Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 201Jun 12, 2020 6:45 pm Oh no . Have you moved in yet? Hope these issues are not stopping you from enjoying your beautiful new house. Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 202Jun 12, 2020 7:05 pm Yes we've moved in, it's definitely not ideal having tradies coming and going all the time. The excitement of a new house was lost a while ago, but we're still grateful for what we have. It'll get there eventually. Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 203Jun 26, 2020 8:51 pm This week the plumbers come again take care of our plumbing problems. They managed to damage the bath, and couldn't fix our drainage issues. Eventually we fixed the vanity plumbing ourselves - turns out there was an airlock between the sink and the trap, so we had to add an air valve. Can't believe actual plumbers couldn't figure it out. Our replastered wall was painted - and subsequently damaged by the painter who tried to skim the join between the old and new. He made a mess of it, broke the wall light while he was there, and made a mess of our stairs. Danmar are staying accountable, but their trades are just terrible. Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 206Mar 17, 2022 7:33 pm Hi, we are considering building with Danmar homes and stumbled across your thread. How do you find the house almost 2 years on? Any structural issues to report? Wall cracks etc? Would you use Danmar homes again? Feel free to PM me if you like. Thanks! Some very slight settling cracks in a couple of corners but an inspector said completely normal. Currently building three 2X3 units with Danmar and build is going to schedule. I see they are building two in Coolbinia and these also seem to be progressing well. Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 208Mar 17, 2022 9:30 pm Thanks for the update that’s re-assuring. Did you look into any other builders? Their costs are quite competitive and cheaper than any double brick home two storey builder I’ve found in the last 4 weeks of searching. Any idea if they’re cutting corners anywhere or how they manage the savings in your discussions with them? No cutting corners in any of f the houses, same tradesmen as used two years ago so I think that is a good sign. Fantastic thank you very much, it’s good to read also that they were ok and not putting up much of a fight with getting items rectified. We look forward to hopefully building with them Thanks again Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 211Jun 28, 2022 5:15 pm amilelka This week the plumbers come again take care of our plumbing problems. Re: New home build - Custom Design WA 212Jun 29, 2022 10:23 am Hi BrownHouse Not sure how often amilelka checks in nowadays but I've walked up those steps and can tell you they are concrete steps finished in the flooring they used through the rest of the house.
