Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 27, 2019 10:44 am Hi All, I have a question regarding the height of the slab. When I compare to my neighbors slab I see that my slab height is smaller against theirs. Does it mean the builder has compromised in slab or is it normal? I have even checked other slabs in the street and they look higher too. Your inputs would e highly appreciated. Thanks Re: Height of the slab 2Jan 27, 2019 10:57 am mrcool4 Hi All, I have a question regarding the height of the slab. On a flat land a typical raft slab will be lower than a waffle slab. But a raft slab is better than a waffle slab. If both are waffle slab the higher waffle slab normally is stronger. Sometimes client could ask their waffle slab to be higher by choice. Re: Height of the slab 3Jan 27, 2019 11:03 am MyFirst mrcool4 Hi All, I have a question regarding the height of the slab. Depends on your soil classification and if there is any fill etc etc. Check your slab engineering details and your soil classification. Re: Height of the slab 5Jan 27, 2019 11:01 pm Just make sure you have good site drainage away from the slab, as best as you can anyway. You might have better soil ie possibly you don't need as thick a slab. Otherwise you can get your engineering explained to you by the engineer or get it peer reviewed by an independent engineer. Or have faith it's all ok. Re: Height of the slab 6Jan 28, 2019 6:58 am sweetswisssteel Just make sure you have good site drainage away from the slab, as best as you can anyway. Thanks Mate ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7755 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9570 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16026 |
