Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 25Sep 24, 2008 10:44 pm WHOA! Our roof tiles were delivered today. I cant believe things are happening on site.
VJ our tile colour is Gunmetal, and the profile is called contour, we would have loved a totally flat roof tile but was a bit too $$$. This was possibly the lowest profile in the standard range. Newbies I cant wait for the WIR!! the place we are renting has wardrobes with mirrored doors and the coathangers are too big for it!! We have to turn them on an angle to get the doors to shut. I must say though, we just have the standard interior, no fancy schmancy shelves etc. I hadn't even thought about it until i saw everyones on here, and wow there are some beautiful ones. Sharee, we first walked in the door at Cl@rendon in April 2007, around the 7th, and had our first tender presented a month later. Due to some serious lack of communication from C we have gone back and forth since then, with them talking a long time to do anything. for example a simple variation would take a month to be printed out, costed and signed. The excuses give to us were always the same "you came at a bad time we have just changed all our procedures, we have new owners, we have new staff etc." I never once recieved a phonecall from our CSO letting me know what was going on i always phoned her and had to leave multiple messages until i finally caught her. That all being said, we stuck around for the house because we loved the design and i fitted on our block perfectly without having to compromise any rooms etc. But I really wish it hadn't been such a horrible process! Anyway, Photo time...... Laundry cupboards, benchtop and tile...(and our carpet in the background) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom cupboards are white poly, tops are cs ice snow....I deleted the glass tile, beaumont was going to charge some huge amount for them and the labour. We are having tiling to the ceiling and it will be large format white tiles. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do you think I should have a feature tile?? I do like minimalistic, but worried now it will be too plain... And finally, how the house looks from the other side of the street.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Goodnight everyone!!! Re: Our Dream Home (Things are looking up!!!) 26Sep 24, 2008 10:51 pm Wow Flissfloss it certainly is full steam ahead at your place! Looking great. We are having Nova Aurora benches too ... I am really looking forward to seeing them in!!
Flissfloss something our SS told us would happen actually did. Had to laugh at this! Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 27Sep 25, 2008 7:33 am Flissfloss WHOA! Flissfloss, I'm glad things are moving along - this ride with c'don certainly is a rollercoaster of ups and downs... This week is quite positive for us too.. so I understand how you are feeling. We first signed with c'don in DEC 06 and like you had problems with tenders, mistakes (on their part, even and the contract signing in June 07)... We finally started constructin April 08 !!! Lets hope we're finished before we hit 09!!! Good luck - by the way, I love your design and your kitchen is similar in layout to ours.. we had major changes to our kitchen and can't wait to see it. Cheers Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 28Sep 25, 2008 9:17 am woah!! the hosue looks even bigger side view!!!
very nice colour choices yea, i want to fit out our WIR with pretty shelving etc too! will have to see how much fo the budget is left... have u seen sex and the city? omg! i want a WIR like that....I'm going to see if i can turn one of the spare bedrooms into something like that...for all my pretty pretty shoes! hehehee Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 29Sep 30, 2008 9:12 pm Hi there..... well i got a shock when i drove past the house on friday to find we had a roof...well as much of a roof as they could do with the scaffolding up.

We did however notice that they had put our spa access panel underneath my daughters bedroom window, instead of the bathroom one! Hats of to our SS who we phoned about it on Monday, and today has had it rebricked and moved to the correct window. Talk about service!!. Our SS has been the most motivated person throughout this process, he seems to have a "can do" attitude and i hope he keeps the momentum going!! oh and on a unrelated topic my 14 week old daughter thinks she is a big girl now and can sit up all by herself. Very exciting to see your house progress, must be a great relief after waiting all this time. C are building a house about the same size as yours around the corner from where we are currently renting. We've been here about 4 months now and I've hardly seen anyone one site the whole time. To our eye, it certainly doesn't look like its progressed at all, but maybe their working on the inside... There's no one there before I take the kids to school or when we come home after school. I'd be pretty frustrated if it was my house. Hopefully your construction wont be as slow as this one has been. Good luck. Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 31Sep 30, 2008 10:51 pm Good progress flissfloss, your facade looks like it's going to be lovely!
Your little girl is gorgeous, looks about the same age as mine (4 months - mine may be a little older!) - we thought we might be in by the time we had her too Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 32Oct 01, 2008 1:15 pm Things are looking great!
I'm glad you're happy with your SS. Ours is great too, he is just TOO busy IMO . All the sub-contractors we've had says he is one of C's better ones too! I'm happy now for us that things are happening and 2-3 days of work a week will hopefully keep us on track to be in by xmas! Can't wait to see what yours looks like when the scaffolding comes down. Oh, very cute little girl too! Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 34Oct 13, 2008 10:28 pm Hi All,
Back after 2 weeks of blissful sleeping in.......not a school run in sight!. I just love school holidays! The house has been moving along but at a much slower pace. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The eaves have been installed. Top half of bricks have been cleaned too. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have had a slight problem with our downpipes though, they installed zinc downpipes instead of the colourbond ones specified in our contract. Rang our SS on friday, when i noticed the pipes were wrong and he said it said "zinc" on our "file". I asked him what file because on our tender and colour choices it says colourbond. He got a little angry........hhhmmmm. He suggested i sort it out with head office and our construction CSO. I'm sorry but isn't that HIS job...to sort out PROBLEMS with the build side???? I spent the rest of the day trying to get hold of our construction CSO and finally did at 5pm!!!!. She assured me she would follow it up on monday......its still being "investigated" Thats all well and good but the ANNOYING thing about all this is, everything else has now been STOPPED until its sorted out. NOTHING has been done on the house this week. The SS told us that until we sort it out there is nothing he can do........I AM SO CRANKY!!!!!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The offending pipe!! Heres hoping it all gets resolved....and quickly... my cso said we would get handover by christmas if all went to plan.....and this in NOT in the plan My patience is wearing very thin now, our rental has no air-con so its getting pretty warm here.....the kids have given up hope of a yard they can play in and the husband had enough stress at work without all of this crap! Sorry to vent guys but......I'M MAD! I wonder if any other Cl@rendon peeps have this issue? Would you accept zinc downpipes (painted your colourbond colour) instead of the genuine product? Am i overeacting or should i expect the product i was shown at colour selection time? Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 35Oct 14, 2008 6:56 am No you are not over reacting, if your contract says colourbond that is what you should get.
You don't want to be painting zinc downpipes all your life. They should get their act into gear, and the SS should fix it not you!!! We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 36Oct 14, 2008 7:06 am Welcome to the Cranky Club FlissFloss. You have every right to get what is on the tender, he just doesn't want the hassle.
We haven't had work on ours for an entire week either, I know how you feel. Chin up, as I keep telling myself. Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37Oct 14, 2008 7:10 am your SS sounds like the cranky pants to me you have every right to be upset. I would definitely insist on it being changed to colorbond, you don't want the maintenance issues of the painted ones.
Otherwise, it's looking good flissfloss and please explain how you get sleep-ins with a 4 month old?? Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 39Oct 14, 2008 11:28 am Hi,
Just been reading your thread - your house is lovely! I'm interested about the downpipes, it must be different here in the west because we didn't think you could get colourbond downpipes, all here are put on zinc as well as the fascia's and gutters and then at the end painted in colourbond paint. Seems a much better idea to have colourbond from the start, is that how all houses are done over in the east? K Re: ONE MONTH OVERDUE.....and still NO house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 40Oct 14, 2008 1:38 pm Hi Flissfloss,
Glad to see that you've had some progress recently albeit slowly ... sorry to hear about the downpipes issue. I would be standing my ground on this one, someone has ordered the 'wrong' thing - and who that is, is anyones guess!!! If the SS ordered it, he needs to fix it... if Headoffice placed the incorrect order.. (probably ) then they need to fix it! We've had ongoing issues with these builders, but I do give credit to our SS, he's been great to us - I don't blame him at all for they 'stuff-ups' we've had or the SLOW experience.. If H/O employed more trades and SS's then homes would be completed quicker and there would be less upset people!! Let us know how you get on with the pipes? 6 4346 "is it exempt or do I need to get permission from council" Call your Council and ask them 1 1558 Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11861 |
