Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 121Apr 14, 2009 10:43 pm hey kylie, hope your problems are resolved quickly, can't wait to see kitchen pics (i know i sound weird, but i love kitchen pics - but you understand! ) 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 123Apr 15, 2009 8:34 am When we managed to get entry into the house in the beginning stages everything seemed to be built correctly, at least, up until we were banned from access, thats when things went a bit skew. eg, We ended up with a fridge space that was 150mm narrower than on plan (due to me not being able to check measurements on site). As a result our new fridge is now in the living room. I dont see any practical reason for banishing owners from site if they only make subtle comments, it may even help them do their job better. Now we are getting ready for a fight during defects report. Ill let y'all know how it goes. Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 124Apr 15, 2009 11:36 am Hi Kylie, it's all looking great, very exciting.. we are at the same stage atm, except i have no idea when our cabinets are being delivered... looking forward to seeing the kitchen photos as well! Building first home in Melbourne - Hilton NBG 24E (changed dramatically) inspection done... just waiting now for finalization!!!!!!! our house with PH 125Apr 15, 2009 6:20 pm ozzroo Kyiee, Being on acreage and the amount of space around the house, what lengths are Perry doing to prevent you from getting close to the house? I am wondering the same thing when our's starts as if you spot something how can you mention the problem to them as they will know you have been down there. Nathan Hi Nathan! Hmmmm they haven't gone to the lengths experienced by Stu (I think they fenced him out from memory!), but they are not happy to have us anywhere near it... thinly vailed disdain if we happen to mention anything that we have noticed...personally I don't understand this mentality as if they keep going their word of mouth is going to cop a bollocking! We walk around the perimeter...a friend built with plantation and didn't experience the same treatment - they were only too happy to address concerns etc, so you probably won't have the same problems. stu When we managed to get entry into the house in the beginning stages everything seemed to be built correctly, at least, up until we were banned from access, thats when things went a bit skew. eg, We ended up with a fridge space that was 150mm narrower than on plan (due to me not being able to check measurements on site). Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 126Apr 21, 2009 10:26 pm The laws are very clear with regard to Workplace Health and Safety, you can't enter a site unless you have done a site specific safety induction or if you are the holder of a Blue Safety Card. You also have to be invited in by a company representative. You can enter the site without these requirements provided you are with an employee of the company that is a holder of a Blue Card. I don't think its that they (most Builders) are trying to hide anything its just for your own Safety as its the responsibility of the supervisor to keep the site safe. Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 128Apr 21, 2009 10:53 pm I have a blue card! Passed my WHSO exam with flying colours. Happy to accompany you to 'inspect' your home Kylie! Coral didn't want us to DIY anything like our insulation for OHS reasons, but they give us a construction key and we can come and go as we please. We're VERY careful while we're there and my kids know not to touch ANYTHING (I don't care if it's your bedroom wall/door/wardrobe -DON'T TOUCH IT), but I do find it interesting that there are no restrictions. Our house is being painted at the moment and what if we were stupid enough to smudge it? I'm sure it happens. Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 129Apr 22, 2009 6:45 am Hi Jellylegs!!!! My partner has a blue card too and worked for our electrician on site...he is only allowed on then, no other times. Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 131Apr 23, 2009 8:16 am If you have a blue card the answer is still "no" I have all the training and gear, I also look after OH&S on much larger construction sites. When I asked PH for access with all of this qualification, they then became hostile and threatened to fence off my property (It wasnt the SS Kyiee, he was okay at the time) Still waiting to see what happens with the Defects report, it will be interesting to see what they do about the fridge opening. Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 134Apr 25, 2009 9:21 am Kylie, what was happening can you say? Sounds like things went down hill a bit, but I'm not sure if I've missed the details somewhere? Re: Our house with Perry Homes heaps of photos 9/04!!!!!!!!!!!!! 135Apr 29, 2009 1:27 pm Bricks are awesome, thats when you get a good idea of what your new house feels like. Have you arranged a building inspector Kylie, before they plaster up the walls it may be a good idea to have one take a look see. Or at the very least take millions of photos and mark on plan of house where they were taken. Still no word on fridge space, im not holding my breath but im still adamant that something will be done. of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23765 Ask for references and speak to them.
