Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 30, 2014 12:05 am Hey Guys, I've been on this site a while ago but lost my log on details so thought I'd start fresh. In January we purchased our first block of land in Angle Vale, it's a nice 2000sqm patch of dirt in where we will be building our dream home. We have chosen to build the two story Cleo through Simonds Homes. Since buying our block in Angle Vale we have completed selections, all the approvals, contracts and we are currently in council approval. We have been told a max 4 weeks (been two weeks already) and we should be ready to order materials to our block Excited to share our journey, ups & downs and pictures with you guys as well as read other people's forums. Look forward to getting to know you all. I love checking out other simonds builds. I think we arent too far behind you, so will be interesting to see if the Victorian arm can catch up

Congratulations on the progress! They don't take too long at all from here... All our approvals came in on May 15 and they did the site scrape on June 3! So, quite speedy really Looking forward to seeing your build happen! Haha Oh I'm hanging for council to come back, this whole process is DRAGGING! My spare rooms are full of all new home things & I don't even have a slab yet. Haha Who are you all building with and where abouts? Just at frame stage now Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 8Jun 30, 2014 12:38 pm I'm so hoping council just go yep no worries, but that's wishful thinking! Lol We actually drove through mount barker on the weekend as we went to Masters in mount gambier haha. Brought so much cool stuff to add to the pile. Mount Barker looks loverly, I'll have to check out your thread. Are you finding it's all happening pretty quick now? I think I'm more nervous about doing the yards as our block is pretty big :/ Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 9Jun 30, 2014 12:44 pm I think we'll do a road trip to Masters soon... I quite like Mt Gambier to visit, we used to have family there and visited once a year, but haven't been back in a few years since they moved back to Adelaide. Oh my word... since they got to site on the 3rd of June, they haven't really stopped. We've had shocking weather and we've still made great progress. Once they start, it just flies... very happy Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 10Jun 30, 2014 1:30 pm Agreed it was very pretty but the weather was hectic. Oh that's awesome I know ours will take longer being two story but hopefully we are in by christmas. The mysimonds is pretty handy to. He's been told he'll be in in a few weeks. Making it a 4 month build time so far!
Amazing. Here's a link to his thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70377&hilit=harcrest+brissy I seriously stalk mysimonds everyday! haha I love seeing the estimated completion dates for stuff change... so far they've only ever moved to suit me, so I'm happy! lol Re: Building with Simonds SA 12Jun 30, 2014 2:16 pm Thankyou I'll check it out after I finish walking my dog! Yes I also stalk it, our start date is 25/7/2014 so hoping that doesn't go back as it has a few times. I keep asking Hayden if anyone is building the cleo in Adelaide but we are the first ones. Would be nice to walk through our floor plan in real life.
Re: Building with Simonds SA 13Jun 30, 2014 4:13 pm The Simonds builds are really picking up in here now. But I can never look at too many I'm pretty sure we went through a Cleo display up here in Qld when we were shopping for a design/builder, it was quite a nice house! Looking forward to watching that! Re: Building with Simonds SA 17Jun 30, 2014 8:13 pm Looks great! Love those splashback tiles, thats what I based ours off of. Your house plan is lovely too. Next purchase is a ride on lawn mower I loved the Bentleigh display so it made more sense to use a lot of what they used. It's SO hard picturing a house off a floor plan. Thankyou we are currently on the hunt for the perfect brown textured wall paper to do the entrance wall opposite to "the sitting room that I won't let anyone sit in" haha. Hahaha yes! You must have the show lounge room... Bunnings have a display of designer wallpapers in their paint section, theres a few textured ones and one similar to that in the Bentleigh. It's plain white but a textured feeling/look and it's designed to be painted once put on the wall. I can't remember how much it was but was surprised at how lovely some of the options were! There is a paint shop in Gawler that has so much wall paper that it's overwhelming. Last time I went I was to hungry to concentrate so might swing back in there to at some point haha. Designing a house is hard, picked all my lighting up on the weekend and hoping I made the right choices with that too.
