Hello! So we have purchased a large block with a sideways slope with plans to build our forever home. It’s got no neighbours, nice surroundings and in a nice area so we were prepared for it to be more difficult and costly that a typical build. We were going to slowly plan and get it done but then the HomeBuilder grant was announced and we’ve decided to have a crack and see if we can get it started in time to get it. We are working with a council which is very keen to have the building ‘go with the slope’ ie no crazy retaining etc.
I’d be so grateful to hear from others in Adelaide who have build on a sloped block- how difficult was your retaining/footings etc? Who did you build with? Was it a good experience? Did you go custom or off the plan design (I know a lot of the project builders talk about being able to do split levels in their designs now)? What would you do differently in hindsight? Any tips in general? We’re planning on a 4 bed single storey house.
Much appreciated everyone
