All windows have been installed and rough ins done. Insulation batts and gyprock has been delivered for install. We noticed a few issues with electrical positions and plumbing but spoke to electrician and he said he would fix for us before gyprock. We are quite happy with the progress so far and the level of communication from our SS Callan Fing Only 2 issues we have yet to be resolved are the merbau posts to high for our deck to sit neatly around and the floor tile grout colour. We’ve been advised from Beaumont that we can only have light grey or dark grey after I was told at tile selection we could have off white. Hopefully we will get both issues fixed. Re: Longreach 33- Our country home 24Feb 09, 2019 7:23 am Clipsal appointment Just a tip for first home builders. Do your research as much as possible before your Clipsal appointment. We wished we had spoken to an electrician before hand. Would have saved some stress. We were told by our Clipsal person at the Skype appointment that we only needed 1 surface socket in the ceiling for 6 downlights run off. This is apparently not the case. We contacted our electrician to organise our down lights pendants fans and outdoor lighting to be installed for cash. He obliged us but when he received my plan of where things were to go he noticed what Clipsal has done. He actually said they have no idea what they are talking about. We had planned on 29 down lights going on and therefore needed another 23 surface sockets! Anyway he has charged us far less than Clipsal. My husband actually googled the correct install for down lights using surface sockets and discovered that if you run more than 1 down light it becomes a fire hazard!!! We have spoken to our Clipsal rep and asked her to look into this further. Not good enough if you ask me. Not being electrical savvy you depend on advice from the professionals. Gyprockers have been busy this week. All the walls and ceilings are done. Our beautiful Manly decorative cornice started going in while we were there. Looking forward to seeing it all finished. All the best with the rest ,thanks for sharing the pics Thanks We actually upgraded the stacker sliders in the living room to a wider door for more natural light. I was actually very surprised now the gyprock is in how light the house is. Good luck with your build too. Absolutely love it. Although they have stuffed up and haven’t put it in our 2 toilets! Will be organising a meeting with our SS to discuss. We spent most of the day cleaning up the site today and mowing our acre. I filled 5 milk crates of builders personal rubbish and building materials. Looks so much tidier now. Very dry though. We need rain desperately. Brickies started this week. But had 2 days off due to much needed rain. Loving our brick choice. Can’t wait to see all the bricks done. We chose Austral Governors Wakehurst with Raked mortar joints in off white. Very happy 😊 Will post more photos after all bricks are laid. Re: Longreach 33- Our country home 33Feb 24, 2019 7:24 am gogo65 The contrast of the bricks and roof looks great, its nice to see a more traditional build with a lovely modern twist Thank you gogo65(great name). That’s exactly the look we are going for. We love the old style bricks. Internal fix out has started. All architraves and skirtings have been started. So glad we decided to upgrade to a colonial style. Cost a bit but well worth the money. All doors have been hung also. We upgraded to HAG12 as we wanted a Hampton’s style door. All built wardrobes have hinged doors also and look great. Can’t wait to see how they come up painted. Just a couple of things we’ve noticed. Light switch in main bedroom has been put on the wrong side. Also outdoor light switch in main bed is on wrong side. It’s stated clearly on the electrical plan so hopefully just an over site. A lot has happened this week. The kitchen is in and splash back tiled. Grouting still to be done. Bathroom vanity and en-suite vanity have been installed and floor tiles laid. Have a problem with the plumbing and waste position in en-suite. The vanity is being redone with 2 longer cupboards on the ends and 1 bank of drawers in centre. The way it was designed the waste had no where to go. I’m not convinced the plumbing for the left had tap is in the right spot. 🤭. Beaumont tiles agreed to upgrade our floor grout to misty grey. Apparently this is an upgrade from standard natural grey. Anyway we are happy with the result as the grout matches the tiles perfectly. Glad we questioned Beaumont’s. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
