Hi, just wondering...
If I ask my builder for the name of the company they subcontracted a specific part of my build to, do they have to tell me, or can they legally refuse to name them?

Re: Can I insist the builder tells me who their subcontract 2Nov 22, 2018 9:06 pm I strongly doubt there'd be a reason to address that in either standard building contracts or your State's building legislation. No harm in asking, but if they decline to tell you I doubt you've got any grounds for complaint. Re: Can I insist the builder tells me who their subcontract 3Nov 23, 2018 6:26 am I would say become friends with your site supervisor and you will probably get further. The big question would be why do you want to know? Is it so you can veto the selection? Pay them under the table? Or bring them a thank you case of beer? I’m going to ask about which tilers my builder uses because I need to tile around my pool after the house is completed and they have done an amazing job. Re: Can I insist the builder tells me who their subcontract 4Nov 23, 2018 7:38 am I am on good open terms with the site supervisor and things are going pretty well on the build, and they have been addressing any concerns. There is one part though that I am not at all happy with, but for some reason they won't budge and seem to think it is acceptable. There seems to be more going on than meets the eye. I have some good connections in this particular industry and its association, so want to know who actually did the work. Re: Can I insist the builder tells me who their subcontract 5Nov 23, 2018 8:41 am To answer OP question, no you don't have the right. All you need to know is that your builder is in charge and responsible, he takes your money, the buck stops with the builder. I called VBA today and they said it was a Consumer Affairs issue, the old handball. Seems like the government organisations don't want to do their job at the moment. 2 7555 |
