Settlement on our old house went through a few weeks ago, and we are now renting it back from the new owners...until the 11th September, when we will become homeless, as I can't see our house being finished by then Naah, we can move into my parents, as they are going OS, but we're not looking forward to moving twice in such a short time. The builder is still saying that we may be in by then, but I can't see it happening. Still very happy with the quality of the work...just can't get over the window suppliers though...frames were installed for some of the windows 3 months ago Oh well, we will get there...eventually (If only I had a dollar for everytime I've said that lately ) Hope you all enjoyed my little piccie fest! 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Finally, one step closer...July update 123Jul 26, 2010 2:33 pm It's really taking shape and looking absolutely amazing. I'm guessing you aren't living in your car then? Your house looks more amazing in each pic .. can't wait to see the end result! Hi! yes it is after September 11...and no we're not living in our car...might be a bit squishy with 4 kids, but unfortunately we're not in our house either. We moved out of the old house, almost 2 weeks ago now...how time flies. The builder has said he's hoping to have us in by the end of the month, but as a friend said, we should have asked "which month?" because I just cannot possibly see the house being finished in 2 weeks! We're bracing ourselves as we'll have to live with my parents when they come back from their holiday...but hopefully it won't be for too long. Thanks for your lovely comments dollar and barbs Sorry for the lack of piccies and updates...I realised the other day that I hadn't even taken any pictures for almost a month inconceivable I know. 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Finally, one step closer... 139Sep 20, 2010 12:42 pm Welcome back 'chelle. I've missed you. I eagerly look for new posts from you and look at your blog, but nothing. It's great to see you back on the forum. My house is a little behind yours. All I can say is that I've told the builder that quality comes first and if it needs to take a bit longer that's fine. When I move in, I want it to be exactly what I'm after, which so far is the case. You have a wonderful house. What's another month if when you step into your house it puts a smile on your face. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Finally, one step closer...Lock up and handover! 140Oct 14, 2010 10:30 pm I was beginning to wonder if this day would ever come...but we are finally moving in tomorrow...and yes as the title says, we've just reached lock-up...one day before handover. Some of you may have noticed my absence (not that I was ever a big poster on the forum) and there was a good reason for that. Once our house started to be fitted out, I didn't feel comfortable talking about what was happening, as it wasn't at lock-up. Hobart is too small a place to advertise that we have a house full of stuff sitting there waiting to be taken and we had enough problems with sight seers as it was. I kept thinking that I would start posting again once the house was locked up...foolishly believing the glaziers when they told us they would have it locked up soon. Well, actually, no I stopped believing anything that came out of their mouths a long time ago...but still I hoped. I think this surely must be some sort of record...to reach lock-up the day before handover??? But all will be forgotten (if not forgiven) tomorrow when we spend our first night in our new house!!! I promise to put some piccies up soon...when I get over this exhaustion. At the moment it is more of an emotional exhaustion (after a roller coaster ride the last few days)...but after this weekend it will be more physical I'm sure. Off to bed now to get ready for tomorrow... Hmmmmm wonder how well I'll sleep tonight??? 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11838 Do I need to concern about this pattern of crack?
