Re: Staircase Upgrade Cost 3Jan 21, 2018 11:35 am i was looking at a rawson home upgrade and it was around this. Check the current staircase as its probably just MDF wiht some carpet over the top. Just remember, a nice staircase will make an amazing showpiece as well as some elegance when your in the living/kitchen/dining room back to the staircase if you have view of it from there. Re: Staircase Upgrade Cost 4Jan 21, 2018 6:55 pm We upgraded the stairs for our build, and yes, that would be a standard price. It hurts, but god they will look amazing! We chose to spend the money as it's not really something you can easily upgrade at a later date. Thanks for highlighting that some online calculators look useful but the data needs to be properly checked Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Staircase Upgrade Cost 7Dec 21, 2018 2:33 pm StructuralBIMGuy; out of interest, what do you mean by "structural staircase" … ie. is there any other type? Kind-of asking because the term makes it sound like it's part of the structure of the house; whereas my (limited) experience with project builders is that the staircase only supports the weight of people+furniture going up & down, and isn't part of the house's supporting structure (ie. they chuck it in at the end as an afterthought after everything else is done). But you've used that term as though it's a normal thing, and therefore it can't mean what uninformed-me thought it meant. Re: Staircase Upgrade Cost 8Dec 22, 2018 9:02 am Forg I hear the argument that it is not part of the structure all the time. My2c a simple staircase technically is designed as a Inclined Structural Beam and according to the relevant Australian Standards AS3600 Concrete Structures, AS4100 Steel Structures, AS1720 Timber Structures. Building Surveyors and Regulators here check for Engineers drawings during Building applications, a missing Engineers details & Signature is generally followed up before building approvals are given. BTW, I Still find mistake on site generally by " Fools that can't read Certified Details/plans", my aim is to fix them preferably sooner than later. cheers Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Staircases and sausages.
