Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 11, 2008 8:09 pm Theres a fun title for you.
We have been given some site costs we are reasonably happy with and they are fixed as long as the compaction report comes in at at least H class. Apparently most builders do a Grade A compaction. Our land isnt due to title until May 09 so the work hasnt been done on it as yet and I am just a bit nervous of signing without the fixed costs actually being fixed. Does anyone know much about this? Thanks Re: site costs and soil compaction 2Sep 12, 2008 9:20 am hey penny,
we fixed our site costs with PD before our land was released as well....our land was being work on by the estate while we were signing with PD, so when PD did their first soil test, it came back with a "poor" result, because the land had yet to be compacted and stuff like that.... when the land was all fixed and released, PD did another soil test and the results got down graded (or upgraded depending on which way u look at it) and we got a better slab/ground grading...i dont think i explained that properly... anyway, i hope that made sense...or helped a little! eheheh where abouts are u building? I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13091 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37142 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you. Cheers Simeon 1 10242 |
