Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 09, 2019 8:09 pm Hi all, Have read through some of the previous posts around this topic and as much as there is a lot of discussion, debate and information I still have no clear direction as to what to choose for a new build and certainly don't want to leave the decision to builder. I have also searched for independent online reviews not attached to businesses that sell fans, a I've heard that they screen the negative ones. To keep it simple, I need 4 fans in total, two of which will be in adjoining powder room and laundry, so could share one motor if there is such a possibility? All fans vented externally. Low noise/ vibration, excellent de-humidifying ability and of course suction and importantly odour removal. Have checked out the Schweigen BR500 based on someone's post here but 4 fans will be pricey. Will re-consider if no other suggestions. As much as I enjoy a healthy debate, technical information on electrics is not my fave topic and have noticed some users tend to get caught in this debate without really offering any tangible recommendations of products, so please keep it simple for me. thanks in advance Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 3Jul 10, 2019 11:27 am . Thank you appreciate your input and suggestions, will look into these, are they all a standard bunnings type of fan? Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 4Jul 10, 2019 11:40 am luv 4 Gaia . Thank you appreciate your input and suggestions, will look into these, are they all a standard bunnings type of fan? Yes the Bunnings types. Of course your choice would also be driven by $ of other fittings/finishes. The non-silent ones actually help to douse the other bathroom sounds and that works for me. Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 5Jul 10, 2019 12:10 pm Thank you, as long as none of them sound like aircraft about to take off Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 6Jul 10, 2019 3:18 pm I can also recommend OdourVac, depending on budget. http://www.odourvac.com.au/odourvac-kit.html A real marriage-saver! Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 7May 07, 2020 8:34 am If you are having adjoining ones in laundry and powder room, make sure they are "offset" from each other. Ours are between the same ceiling joists (which supports the top floor), so the odours from the powder room go into the laundry, as air inside the house is recirculated when all windows and doors are closed! Not a problem if you only have single storey! Re: Bathroom and Laundry Extraction Fans - suggestions 8May 07, 2020 11:47 am As an electrician I would also keep it simple. Stick to a standarised size so it can be swapped out easily. Remember that these just plug in to a plug base so are swapped out easily. Some of the "Bunnings" brands can be cheap and nastie and very noisy and the inverse can be said for some of the expensive stuff, (over priced and still made in China). To be honest I put in a bunnings one in our last house but I did take a couple back because they sounded like a jet taking off. The beauty of bunnings is they have no issues with swapping them over. If you can just take ne out of its box and plug it in to a power outlet and try it. Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo.
