Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 07, 2018 3:46 pm Is anyone able to offer me some advice. i have just moved into a brand new home. Unfortunately it has many defects one of which is some significant cracking. The skirting are coming away from the tiles and large gaps are appearing. The wall is also coming away from the skirting. It is happening in several areas downstairs which is completely tiled.I initially thought it was a moisture issue but the builder doesn't think so. It also is not in the one area so this rules out a leaking toilet etc. The house is only less than two months old and I have never seen cracking like this even in an old house. I'm not sure if it is relevant, but I also have huge grout colour inconsistencies which worsens when we have wet weather. Could anyone offer some suggestions as to what it happening? I built with McDonald Jones Homes. They have been an absolute nightmare to build with. No communication and Very little action in addressing the defects. In on epart of my home you can see the steel frame because the cladding has a gap between it and the brickwork. The workmanship is appalling. It's been suggested to me to get someone in to go over it and provide a report. Money is just tight at the moment for me so I've hesitated. I have and they have come to view it but haven't come back to me with how it is to be rectified. They are very slow to respond to calls or emails and often just ignore instead of replying. 4 6008 I've got a challenge here. Background is the builder has cut too deep for the slab and the slab is now below the very substantial retaining wall. It's failed occupancy… 0 18372 Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4324 |
