Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 03, 2018 12:00 pm Hi all, We're currently in the process of signing off the different variations after our colour/electrical appointment at Studio M, Metricon. We have gone back and fourth at least 6-7 times with our studio m consultant because there have been double ups of charges, charges we never added, no cost amendments after we removed certain things from our build, and random costs that we never agreed with in the first place. Every time we address it with out consultant, there are new random charges in different categories on our next document they send through. We then have to go back and tell the consultant to remove those charges. It's getting quite frustrating. This has been happening for about 3+ weeks now. We just want to sign and get it over with. Is this Metricons version of "up-selling"? We are talking about $4000+ charges we never added. Can i please get some advice on this? Thank you. Re: Metricon Variation Document sign-off problems. 2Oct 13, 2018 12:24 am We are currently going through the same process. We had our contract signing on the 20th August and there were a number of issues (mostly refunds missed, charges that should have been include and different products or cabinets where we wanted drawers). We didn't get to see the contract to go over it ourselves beforehand which is apparently normal, they just get you to sign it all and you have five days to notify any issues which are to be fixed at no charge. Anyway, after a number of miscommunications about time frames about how long it takes to fix the issues of the ocntract, we finally got our revised contract variations on the 9th of October and you know what, it's still not right!!!! Not to mention we were recently informed that our garage height which is their inclusion is apparently too high and they need to apply to the council on our behalf and it may take up to 12 weeks for approval (not guaranteed) and cost $600. Annoyingly, they can't even start that process until we sign the consent which is part of the variation document that we haven't signed because it is not yet correct. We have contacted customer support - which to be fair hasn't seemed to do much but now our CSC's manager has been involved with facilitating the process. Re: Metricon Variation Document sign-off problems. 4Oct 13, 2018 7:38 am I would say the same.take it easy and be patient. I don't think it is abnormal. I went through the same very recently. I signed contract in Mar 18. The corrections in plans and estimate completed in Sep 18. Re: Metricon Variation Document sign-off problems. 5Oct 13, 2018 11:40 am We had our frustrations with Metricon with a lot of variations not making much sense in terms of the total cost, being missed or applied incorrectly. The calculations seem to go through a number of different hands and contract admin people aren't very experienced with constructions, so lack the subject matter experience. I tend to believe that it is more inconsistency in calculation methodology, processes and lack of experience on their behalf than a strategic way of inserting cost into the contract. We found it most helpful to write emails with EXTREMELY CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS on what the issue was, citing the exact location in the contract, suppling marked up copies of plans and calculations to get it across the line. This is a big company and you gotta do a lot of the detailed cross checking, because no one will do it for you. David To a degree this was our experience as well, we did have a great csc in the end and was on to things straight away , you just have to keep checking and put everything in an E mail and it will get sorted, 1 1345 The irony. I'm starting to wonder if this a Bimguys second account. 84 29309 Are you saying that these consultants are involved at key-points of the building, and perform site inspects at the stages, or only after building is completed to point… 4 8995 |
