Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 15, 2018 7:13 pm Hi all, I am currently building the Provincial 26 with Carlisle homes. This past week we have had our slab poured, and yesterday they began the framing. I went to have a look today and noticed that they have set out the frame base plates right up to the edge of the slab, but there is no lower concrete "ridge" for the bricks to sit on. Is this correct, do the bricks just get built on the soil? There should be an engineer's plan contained in your contract for the footings and slab. But my guess (nothing but a guess and from seeing your picture) are that the edge beams actually are all there, but are presently covered by the plastic membranes and soil they've temporarily piled up to create a fall away from the footings. You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
