Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has any experience or has asked about upgrading the solar packages that some builders are including?
Rawson Homes has an "Energy Savings Bonus" option in their "Unwrap your Way to 70K" promotion which includes -
* 5.6kw Bradford solar ChargePack
* 280 Watt Solar Panels
* Inverter and PV Panel Optimisers
* Tesla Powerwall 2 Home Battery
We are building a north facing house with the largest roof sections to put panels on the Eastern & Western sides of the roof, so I would like to increase this system to have both of those sections of roof covered in panels.
From the plans so far Rawon seems to be putting all of our panels on the Western side of the roof, not sure if this is accurate / the final location where they would plan to situate them or they just put them there on the plans to have them appear somewhere. Because of this I asked about getting an additional 20 panels for the other side of the roof and they have given a quote of $9,155, does this seem normal to anyone with any experience with solar?
Just trying to check as that seems crazy high to me based on all the adds you see around for 5kw solar systems for around $4-$5k including panels, inverter, etc, so I'm just trying to work out how merely adding extra panels to a system that is already being installed is costing $9k. Is there something I'm missing?
Alternatively should I be doing something else / am I being silly adding additional panels? The home is going to be 2 storey, 5br, ducted aircon, media room, swimspa with heat pump, etc so I'm not really concerned about putting it back into the grid and getting credits as much as I really want to take advantage of solar being produced to power everything and have things timed to come on and make use of the energy throughout the day (eg. run the dishwasher at 10am, swimspa filter at 12pm, washing machine at 2pm, aircon at 3pm to cool the house before we come home of an evening, etc)
Below is the promo material from Rawson and there seems to be some inconsistency as one states it as being a 5.4kW pack, whilst another says it's 5.6kW, not a big difference though I guess -
