Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 3Jun 01, 2010 8:20 am I guess it depends on the individual agreement but our builder has the electricity in their name until handover (and pays those costs), at which time we can either have the account transferred to us (i.e. stay with Origin) or connect with a new provider. Oh and yes, it does seem like quite a lot of $, especially for 58 days We have a house in Doreen. Built the PD Kensington 24 (with Alfresco & Rumpus option). We pay ours...but it is nothing like that amount...that's horrendous...we've paid $250 for 11 months. So I would be contacting your supplier and the builder to find out what is going on there. 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 5Jun 01, 2010 10:59 am Thats a MASSIVE bill, the year I was in the last 2 months of pregnancy ours wasn't even that high, and I ran the a/c almost all day /night. We didn't pay power bills while building last time, but I guess its up to the individual builders my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 6Jun 01, 2010 11:02 am Our power, gas & water are in our name. We've not had an electricity bill but had a gas bill for around $50 - 3/4 of it was the set up fee. $1535 sounds VERY high for just under two months. Have you got a meter box installed?? Can you check the readings match up? Either way, I would def be calling them and questioning the amount. Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 8Jun 02, 2010 6:56 pm When i contacted with my builder, this was the response that i got Quote: With regards to the utility bills that you are receiving, you will need to make private arrangements for payment as it is the Owners responsibility to provide water and electricity to the site for us in order to build the home. There are differences in quantities that are required so it is very difficult for us to be able to include within your building price. Can anyone comment on this.................or help me On my contract there is no indication about the owners responsibility to provide water and electricity. I sorry cant help as we are only just started bricking, but we have not recieved a elec bill yet. So you are saying nowhere in your contract says the above? I have asked people on my thread about this as you scared me but, no one seems to have recieved a bill yet. Watching this thread with interest. Can you ring the M.B.A. or someone like that and just ask if this is right to be charged and the amount which sounds like the whole street is using your power My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE. KEYS ON 5/11 AT 1PM Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 10Jun 02, 2010 7:47 pm We are building in Perth & have just starting bricking. We received our first Electricity bill this week for the block which was no where near the amount you were charged. Our was admin fee + power supply + 3 phase power connection, this last charge was the majority of the bill. I would be calling power company & questioning the amount & asking for explanation if our bill was anything like yours Cooper's Build - Perth NOR viewtopic.php?f=31&t=30525 Prelim- mid Sept 2009, Pre Start 2 Feb, Siteworks- 21 April 2010, Slab- 10 May, Deliveries- all by 26 May Bricking- 28 May - 26 June, Roof complete 5 Aug, Float 28 Aug, Lock up 16 Sept Cabinets 1 Oct, Tiling 22 Oct, PCI 18 Nov, KEYS 3 Dec 2010 MOVED IN 17 DEC 2010 Re: Electricity Bill While building a house??? 11Jun 02, 2010 7:48 pm During the building process, power usage is pretty low. Also states the same under general specs contract with our builder. Check the power box at site to see what the reading is & then call power company to see what they have recorded, hopefully just a miss reading. That sounds to me like they have also realised that it is not in the contract and therefore they legally don't have a leg to stand on. Have a bit of fun with them and ask what will happen to the bills if you don't sign the amendment Makoby anyone building with M3tr1con?
