Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 03, 2018 11:48 pm We're building a new home (trenches digging as we speak) and are required to have a rainwater tank. I need to talk to the plumber about how I want the house plumbed, from my point of view how best to utilise the 'free' tank water. My thinking is as follows............. 1) Have the mains water inlet 'split' into two lines................ Line #1 is combined with the tank water using this Acqua Saver Valve thus using tank water when available and mains water when the tank is empty / pump fails. This line would feed the (solar, gas boosted) Hot Water System, laundry cold water tap and toilets. 2) Have the outside taps / irrigation connection points also connected to this line 3) Have Line #2 feed the remaining interior cold water taps This would guarantee "clean" mains water at the cold taps at all times and additionally would reduce the possibility of losing all water should the Acqua Saver valve fail. 4) As we have a solar HWS the gas booster is set to 60°C and while I realise that I am limited to 50°C at the bathrooms I would like the full 60°C at the kitchen and laundry so there would be a tempering valve controlling only the bathroom hot taps. Any thoughts on this ? Many thanks, P_D .
