Hello everyone,
We are back once again after sharing our first build on here 5 years ago. A year ago we purchased land to build again but sadly it all fell through due to illness in the family but we are back here now with purchased land and a new building contract.
We purchased a block of land in the same estate as where we planned last years build but in an earlier stage after one came up. A bit of haggling and back and forth saw us settle the land 2 weeks ago. Because we had already looked at building again last year, the process has been nice and fast for us and we'll update this as we digest it all and our heads stop spinning.
We had a few builders in mind for this new one and it was a crazy process to try and narrow down. I feel that we've visited every display centre in South Australia over the course of the last year. Just when you catch up and do a full lap, they've built new designs to tempt you all over again!
We both had gravitated towards a Simonds build after dealing with a fantastic sales rep here in Adelaide and I'm glad to read on here that others have also dealt with him as well. They can be wolves in sheeps clothing and trust is the biggest factor in this experience so we are glad we took our time and settled on our gut feel.
The Prague for us ticked boxes we were both after. There was a lot of negotiating (read: Kayla wanted...Kayla got...) to get the right feel for the house and the Prague offered the most we were after that could fit into our budget. We were really happy with the open line of sight from front door to back door, open living and dining room as well as enough bedrooms to accommodate expansions in the future. We didn't want to live in a shoe box but given life's ever changing constraints, we didn't have a budget for a two storey monster either. Maybe next time right??
Here's to our fresh start
