Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 29, 2018 2:13 pm Hello all Our land is on a busy road and builders have advised we need to apply and get a Work Zone permit from our council before the work commences. The work permit should be valid until the lock-up phase. I have found some info on the council website however wanted to hear from anyone here with experience with building on busy road and having to acquire the work zone permit. How long does it take to get approvals from council and what are the rough costs associated ? Thanks Re: Council Work Zone permit 2Sep 11, 2018 8:24 pm There are over 500 local government authorities (Councils) in Australia, each with their own processes and fees for road occupancy arrangements. Ask your Council those questions and you'll get a quicker and more reliable answer than anyone can give here. Re: Council Work Zone permit 3Sep 11, 2018 8:41 pm I agree and we have reached out to the council to get the costs. They have pointed us to a complicated form to fill which will used to calculate how much fees we have to pay. The builder has also mentioned that they may need second traffic lane to be closed in order to accommodate larger deliveries and for that a separate application is needed to be submitted to RMS. I was keen to hear if anyone else had to go through the similar experience and if they would have any advise for us. Yes it had a house on it. But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33655 Hi All It has been a few weeks since my last update.
