Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 08, 2008 7:27 pm Are you at the mercy of the builder or can you ask for justification in their calculations of site costs?
Do they break it down for each item? And can you choose to get certain parts (if not all) of the work done yourself? Thanks! Re: Site Costs 2Sep 08, 2008 9:18 pm Dont know about all builders but I chose to do my own siteworks, I was unhappy with what the builder had allowed therefore if they didnt let me.....no build. Then again ive heard others with the same builder were not allowed to do any I think now that things have slowed down that they are a bit more flexible. Good luck Re: Site Costs 3Sep 10, 2008 9:00 am Hi HappyHome,
My partner and I have recently signed a contract to build with PD in Craigieburn (VIC). When our site costs were presented to us at Tender, they were broken up into three different sections Excavation, Slab Upgrades and Services. Each section had a description and cost for what they were going to provide and services to be performed. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think any Volume Builder would let you do any part of site work yourself. Re: Site Costs 4Sep 10, 2008 3:04 pm Hi,
We were going to build with National in Victoria but after getting their quote (and paying $850 for site soil tests) we were horrified at their site costs. We have transferred to Metricon and the site works are about 1/3 of Nationals. It is also broken down and itemised as you say. But you seem to be stuck with what they want to charge and no haggling. Dale. I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 12983 Is anyone building with Mojo and have a recent site cost tender 0 15907 Henley should give you some indication of site costs.
