Hi everyone,
I thought I would post a few photos of our home we are currently building with Mcdonald Jones and the lead up to it with preparing our block.
We purchase a block that had been sub-divided in the township of Branxton which is located in the hunter valley of New South Wales. The block itself was 850m2 and only had 0.7m of fall across its 50m depth, the only downside was it had an asbestos lined double car garage that was part of the original property and it had a heavily overgrown garden along the left hand boundary. After the block settled we dedicated every spare moment that we had to clearing the property in preparation for our build, we started with having the asbestos professionally removed and then broke our backs getting rid of anything that was green. The previous owner must have had share in Boral as we removed 47.5 tonnes of concrete from the driveway, garage and garden edge.

We had always loved MJH's Havana and had been through their local display homes home a number of times, we just kept coming back to it, even after looking at every other display home in a 100km radius. One of our main criteria when picking our home was to maintain vehicle access to the rear of the property as we would still have a decent yard and wanted the ability to have a shed and pool later on down the track. We originally had decided on the Havana Elite but as it has a study at the front the width was to great so we went for the Executive which is exactly the same minus the study.

We done a heap of research and decided on most of our selections prior to our meetings with MJH which made the whole process much more relaxing. We decided on Hebel cladding as Branxton tends to be at the extremes in both summer and winter and we loved the look of the rendered finish. We are doing laminate flooring throughout except for wet areas which will be porcelain tile. Most of our budget was spent upgrading to 2.7m high ceilings with coffers in the entry/home theatre, stacker doors to alfresco/kids activity & 2 pac/shaker profile kitchen cabinetry.

It seems like it had taken forever to get to this stage but our house was under construction, from moment forward MJH have kept an incredible pace. We went on the construction list on the 23rd April, 2018 and four months later, we have been issued with our second last invoice as we are up to wet area tiling.
