Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 11, 2018 9:51 am Hi everyone I am new to this forum and would love to get some advice/opinions on window frame colour selections. Does anyone have monument windows? Do you find it too dark on the inside of the house? We are using pgh espresso bricks which are dark and think monument will look better as it will blend in on the exterior better than Surfmist will ....but I’m concerned they will look very dark on the inside of the house. Has anyone used them and can share experiences or pics??? Thanks!! Re: Monument or Surfmist window frame colour? 2Aug 11, 2018 10:00 am Karolien123 Does anyone have monument windows? Do you find it too dark on the inside of the house? We have Monument window frames and they are not too dark inside the house, despite being quite chunky. People tend to look through or past dark window frames and screen, whereas paradoxically light coloured frames are more obvious. The pictures I have added are of our smallest and medium window sizes. The ratio of frame to glass for the smallest is quite high. I've read that black frames are less obvious because they fade into the view better? Who knows if it's true! We are doing Monument roof and gutters. Not sure on window frames and garage. I was thinking all Monument would be too much dark, so thinking shale grey garage, fascia and window frames. We have also selected Espresso bricks and Monument roof and windows, our initial concern was it would be too dark as well so thanks to everyone who posted photos. Our render colours are walls - Dulux Linseed and front poles are Dulux Mt Eden. Re: Monument or Surfmist window frame colour? 18Oct 10, 2018 1:21 pm I could have posted this thread myself! We're building soon and just had colour selections and the only thing I wasn't sure about was the window frames. We knew we'd have the Espresso bricks with off-white mortar, and knew we wanted a darker roof tile (we went with Monier Barramundi roof tiles), and we'd probably have Surfmist fascia and/or gutters. My partner preferred the white frames and I preferred the darker but was less sure. I just couldn't decide whether light frames would be too stark in comparison to the darker roof and bricks or if it would be a feature colour along with the mortar and a rendered pillar out the front. But then I didn't want darker window frames and have the house look too dense. We went with white after PGH gave us some addresses of homes using Espresso brick and saw a house that reassured me that the white wasn't too light. That was a long a$$ post to say, I hear you and feel you and the black and white both look great but I ended up going with white Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thank you so much.
