Doesn't matter how big or small it is, it looks gorgeous! Plus, think of all the cleaning I'll have to do.... Everyon's always hanging it on me that there are 5 ensuites too!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 22Sep 12, 2008 1:48 pm Clarity, I've been watching your blog since April which wasn't long after we signed up with our builder. Sorry to hear that they have been so sloooooow!
I think (and am sure Petal will agree) you just need to look at the big picture and keep focusing on the house that you'll have at the end of the build. It's going to be lovely! You are having my absolute favourite bricks so I'm looking foward to seeing some good pics of them. 30sqm isn't small! It will be great! Happy at Home Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 23Sep 12, 2008 2:43 pm petal, your right about the cleaning I hope you're getting help with the cleaning you'll have to do... I'm going to try and train DS 2yrs how to use my ENJO floor cleaner as soon as we move in
House-To-Be, thanks re our bricks... very different to what many Sydney homes use. I'm trying to stay focused on the end result... just a shame that the journey sucks.. Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 24Sep 12, 2008 2:46 pm petal Moved the scaffolding????? What, so it looks like they're doing something????? Yep! I'm sure that's why they do it! I don't even consider that as site work... It's not like they're doing anything after they move it at the moment... Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 25Sep 12, 2008 10:55 pm Clarity, sorry to take so long in responding to you - yes, we are having the aircon installed by Clarendon - it really wasn't that much more than any of the other options we looked at, and we thought it would be one less thing to muck around with later on...
hey, maybe we have the same new CSR - (does her name start with M?) - I received a phone call in response to an email question within only a couple of hours.........I was AMAZED never have I had such a quick response from them before. I'll try and take some pics of the internals THROUGH THE WINDOWS (in case anybody else is reading this , as we've already had one 'lecture' ) The tiler rang tonight and has asked us to meet him there tomorrow to make sure the tiles are right and to go over how we want them laid - I was quite surprised (and pleased) by this. Things are definitely moving on now... Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 26Sep 14, 2008 1:55 pm UPDATE: This week finished strong, there was 2.5 days of work done!! YAY!!
On Friday afternoon the facia and gutters were put on the ground floor and Saturday the remainder of the colorbond roof was also done on the ground floor (in Sydneys 32degres weather... DH did drop of a 6pack to the 2 guys there!!!) They didn't quite get to finish the capping on part of the rear roof (it looks like they might have run out??) and has left the sarking exposed... not sure what todays rain has done to it. So, we're happy that there has been progress this week, DH is slightly less stressed because of it too. There is only the cladding left to do and external door to do before we're water-tight (not sure if this also gives us lock up) Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 27Sep 14, 2008 2:00 pm Maxie, we are getting the a/c done by c'don too - I agree less mucking around... and we figure it would have delayed up with a move in date...
No I don't have the same CSR as you .. ours is 'K'! Glad you're happy with the one you've got now. Would love to see some of your pictures - it must be hard not being able to go in when you want... We are constantly walking through... very naughty!!! Hope things went well with your tiler, is he ready to start this week. Also, have things moved quickly with your internals??? I'm just trying to figure if it is at all possible to get in by xmas?? Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 28Sep 14, 2008 3:10 pm Hi Clarity, I'm sure you can get in by Xmas. Our SS is always optimistic. He told us it should be finished in 3 weeks! DH suggested to double that at least! They still have to do internals, gyprock, tiling and painting. Plus, we could see quite a few problems already.
I agree, the journey there is really not much fun. Everyday they don't do any work is costing us money for mortgage and rent. Let's hope that slow equates to careful work! Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 29Sep 14, 2008 3:34 pm Clarity Also, have things moved quickly with your internals??? I'm just trying to figure if it is at all possible to get in by xmas?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Things are finally starting to pick up speed for us - we have a kitchen! YAY! So, if they can start on your internals (that sounds good!) in the next couple of weeks, I think you just might scrape in before Xmas. We went to see the tiler - seems like a nice bloke and he seems to think it'll only be another 6 -8 weeks - he'll be there most of the week, then I think the painters are in.... Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 30Sep 14, 2008 3:44 pm Sammy, good idea about doubling the time they think.
I saw you've got stairs... yeah for you. Can't wait to see some pictures... I'll be checking your blog daily to see I agree with slow = careful work! The one thing we can't fault at the moment is the workmanship. So far everything has been pretty spot on Everyday they don't work costs me more grey hair... I've hardly got any natural colour left.. (And I've been going grey since I was in my early 20's and I'm nearing 40 quicker than I'd like... ) Maxie, you kitchen looks AMAZING!!! Well done - I hope you post some more pictures as your bench and appliances go in... I love the kickboards too. It does seem that you'll be in by xmas, you must be excited about that. It seems that you and Sammy are at very similar stages... Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 32Sep 14, 2008 8:52 pm i am sorry to hear everything that has been going on! its not easy to have stressful life events going on admist a build. Big hugs to you.
I had a look at your blog - although its been slow it looks LOVELY. This slow thing is frustrating though...particularly when there has been a big down turn. Our builder just sent us an offer that if we recruit our friends to build with their company, they will give us $750!!!! OMG they should concentrate on the ones they have me thinks! Good luck with everything...I hope things are looking a bit more positive with 2.5 days rather than 1!!! When I first read your post I thought = What the??? 1 day out of a possible 5 - they must be joking GOOD LUCK!!!! Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 35Sep 15, 2008 4:23 pm Yes, we have stairs and kitchen. We have lots of pictures but since we already have lockup, technically, we are not suppose to be inside taking photos!
That is why I didn't post them on my blog. I know our builder reads my blog! The bulkhead for the kitchen and understairs are in. We are just waiting for the tiling and painting. So, hopefully we have handover in a few months. I agree, I think we are at the same stage as Maxie. Considering we started build in March/ April, it's not too bad (but it still could have been faster). Good luck on your build. Had a look at your blog, sounds like you guys aren't too far of from some serious action... Good luck, can't wait to see the progress. Re: 20 WEEKS of building...(long ago) Still slow.. nearly there 40Sep 29, 2008 5:36 pm Oh, it looks absolutely beautiful - can't wait to see the finished product!
Great idea to render the rear sheeting later! We paid to have the rear projection bricked - quite a costly upgrade, and it threw them, as few people do it!!!! Mind you, just working on it seems to throw them atm... The bricks look sensational cleaned, Clarity - you must be thrilled with how it's looking now!
