You bloody beauty. Will be nice to look at a finished product Re: Metricon Franklin - SA (Moved) 13Jul 30, 2018 6:39 pm All wrapped up and ready to go. I had my doubts that they would make the pour tomorrow but they worked on the site last Sat. Didn't know that tradies worked weekends!? Looks like a slab party tomorrow. We have our coins sorted out. Early 7am start. Looks pretty solid. Dont know much about the engineering bit but quietly happy they didnt use any of those styro waffles. Brought the lads a carton to finish the day. Bill also arrived today. They dont waste time. Yeah we didn’t have those waffle things either. I’m sure they know from all the testing. Yep I remember when ours got done. Invoice 4 o’clock that evening. Haha and don’t worry, the invoice happens very quickly after stages are finished. Makes sense though, job gets done and the job needs to be paid. Next is pest control, then the biggy, frames Re: Metricon Franklin - SA (Moved) 17Jul 31, 2018 9:41 pm dunkintoo All done in a day. Early 7am start. Looks pretty solid. They are rubbish, I do not know how they can build a house like the 70sq La Pyrenee on a waffle slab. Crazy. Re: Metricon Franklin - SA (Moved) 18Jul 31, 2018 10:29 pm Its great to see the slab actually. You gain an idea of how the build is going to go up. The garage area is clearly marked by the step down in the slab. The front portico is evident. The step down of the ground floor shower and all the drains corresponding to the different rooms can be seen. Quite satisfying. Site manager met us at 7AM on the premises just as they were pouring in the concrete. Our personal request to throw in some coins to the slab was easily accommodated. There was talk (from my mom and my missus) about sacrificing a chicken but I'm not too sure that RSPCA would have agreed with that. Coins will have to suffice. SM seems like an easy guy to deal with and he has been taking time to explain how things are going to progress. All in all, very happy with how things have gone with the construction phase. Slab will need time to cure (forgot to ask how long). We'll be putting an application to SA Water to have our meter transferred as it presently sits in the middle of our proposed driveway. I gather it will be somewhere to the tune of A$1200 to move it for 4 meters. (groan) but better to get it done before the house gets plumbed in. Yeah playing the waiting game with curing is so annoying but the right thing to do. Driving past every day and as much as the slab makes you happy, hunting for the next job/completion to happen drives me crazy. Haha. Finding those other little cost things to do, like your meter etc are costs which obviously we don’t need. It just keeps adding but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Sometimes you just think how lucky we are to have the opportunity to have great homes like we will. Looking fwd to seeing when they smash out your framing Metricon Franklin 53 modified Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down.
