Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2018 10:03 am Hello, Seeking advice on building a double storey brick home using grey bricks with a hamptons facade. Has anyone built a double storey grey brick or seen one and can provide any opinions, my concern is the lack of examples on the internet and whether it may look odd ? I am considering a medium grey, not too light and not too dark. It will be offset with white window frames and borders and white railings on the balcony. Or Contact the Brick manufacturers and ask them to update their online image/Gallery database OT, Personally, I think the Battlers & Punters building are more concerned with Non Compliance and Costs..."Rather than, is this the right colour?.." my2c Goodluck Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Double storey grey brick house 3Jul 23, 2018 12:28 pm no not yet. just wanted to get some opinions or feedback on the choice of brick color for a double storey home, i have seen grey brick homes but they also include rendered sections or cladding. I have decided against cladding and render due to maintenance. i have been put off from using render as i have see some homes built in the last 6 or 7 years where the render has faded or cracked and looks like an expensive and long job to fix i.e. scaffolding, repairs and painting. i am aware cladding/render looks better but its a choice i am not going back on now. Re: Double storey grey brick house 4Jul 23, 2018 1:04 pm Where are you located? I have reach out to Brickworks, Hopefully they'll join in I concur with your thoughts on problem rendering,IMO it's reaching Plague proportions Correctly flashed Face Brickwork lasts forever while Rendered walls should last at least 10-15 years before re-painting Personally I like Half render & Facebrick...Render always on the top half.
