We too are building here, in the new estate Banyan Hill up from Ballina Heights. Where abouts are you? Hi Rhani89, Wollongbar. Who are you building with? Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 22Sep 04, 2018 12:31 pm Any excitement that I might have felt on the 22nd August following DA approval has waned. Two weeks on and the project continues to drag on. Coral Homes should have put in an application for a construction certificate by now but there is no indication on council's website that they have done so. I have no idea of where Coral Homes is at. The promise of weekly updates from the Coral Homes "pre-site customer service officer" has not been delivered upon. They communicate infrequently and if I attempt to contact them they never answer their phone nor do they return calls. In the time that it has taken us to get to this point with Coral Homes one of our neighbours - who is building with GJ Gardener homes - has progressed to the point of having painters move in next week. They are looking at being in their new home within the next 7 to 8 weeks. Mean time I am just holding out hope that we will have started some time within the next 7 to 8 weeks. Hi Brad, I'm sorry to hear you've had such trouble, though certainly not unheard of We are just about finished in Alstonville. If your DA is approved you are almost through with head office and hopefully things will finally start moving!! Our friends are building with Coral right behind you. Hi AlstonvilleBuild - thanks for the encouragement. I try not to feel frustration but it is such a long and drawn out process it is hard not to. Congrats on nearly being done with your build. I hope it has gone well for you. Is your friends' name Joel and Emily? Had a huge amount of drama while we were at the head office stage but the build has gone ok comparatively. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 26Sep 05, 2018 1:11 pm Hi again AlstonvilleBuild ...... I am sure there is a long story to how you nearly lost your deposit - thankfully you didn't. I find it very concerning how the whole land development and building industry has the power to operate to their maximum benefit with little protection or concern for risks and consequences borne by the buyer. The whole process sucks but the final product seems to be reward enough for people, such as us, to continue pouring most of our savings into building new homes. Good luck with your build Brad, I will watch with keen interest. You can see some of our photos on my instagram @sharni_l I should pop some up here when we're done. Our final inspection was meant to be last week then this week now next week as they rush to fix things. Take care. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 28Sep 06, 2018 6:08 pm Oh no that makes me worried. We got our da approved 2 days ago and our consultant said we should have a start date by Friday. We do have an amazing consultant though always answers my emails and calls me every week. I have heard there are some really slack ones though. We are building in Goonellabah Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 29Sep 06, 2018 6:48 pm Hi Tash, Stop it..... you are just making me envious. Everyone else's seems to progress so much faster than ours. I'm not sure why. I finally heard back from our customer service officer today. Only by email though; I haven't actually spoken with her for about three and a bit weeks. A final variation - the solution for which was resolved 2 weeks ago - is booked in for drafting next week. It then goes back to the certifier for checking and then a construction certificate should be issued soon after. Our consultant is on leave until 19th September so assuming all goes well while she is away we should have a start date booked in soon after (although she will probably come back to a back log of work that will take her two weeks to catch up on which might slow things down). I spoke with a couple who are currently building with Coral in my estate this afternoon. They said that the start date was 4 weeks from the day they were notified that it had been booked. So if you are given a start date tomorrow that will probably mean that you should be starting 1st or second week of October. We are looking at some time closer to the end of October............ it is such a long and ddddrrrrrraaawwwwnnnnn out process! I hope you get your start date on Friday. Let me know how you go. Brad Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 30Sep 07, 2018 9:01 am The people in front of us went into council two weeks after us and they moved in three months ago and a friend at Dunoon signed their contract a month after us and they moved in four months ago......you never really know. You just have to go with the flow and have PLENTY of patience. To be honest, I really think they draw you out as long as they need to so when the build starts the supervisor has a certain number of houses to deal with. They kept making silly mistakes with our place that took time and then when other places finished all of a sudden ours started. So really, you both just want our house finished so you can get moving, lol Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 31Sep 07, 2018 9:02 am When you think about it, they only have so many carpenters, so many tilers, painters etc, they can't all be happening at once they just plan them out I'd say. Yes. I agree. However, consistency in making false promises builds false expectations that leads to frequent disappointed. I just wish that everyone in the development and building process was honest so that one can plan and align their life to the reality. If what we were led to believe by the developer and Coral had actually happened as they promised then we would have moved into our new home more than a year ago. By the time we finally move in 3 years will have passed. In the mean time our interest bill for holding the land as well as our current home is adding thousands to the cost of the project. I am sure its the same or worse for those who are renting and holding land at the same time. Definitely LOTS of PATIENCE required. Hi Brad, we are building the noosa 25 with coral Hi Rhani89, Cool. I like the Noosa 25 layout. I like the Noosa 25 ensuite more than I like the standard Daydream 28 ensuite. We modified our ensuite to add a little more space. We could have gone for a double sink but decided to stick with the single and install a large floor to ceiling window with clear glass opposite the shower instead. The clear glass sounds kinky.... I know.... but before you jump to conclusions .....I plan to install a privacy screen outside the window behind which I will plant a tropical atrium garden with a water feature - sort of inspired by various bathroom experiences when travelling in Southeast Asia. Have you been to the Noosa 29 display home in Coffs Harbour? If not, I recommend it. Doing so may provide some inspo on connecting inside with the outside. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 37Sep 10, 2018 4:04 pm Wow i really like the idea of the glass, so where exactly does that go? infront of the shower head? or the wall to the left of the shower head?It sounds really nice! We too have gone for a single sink in our vanity, we didnt see the need for a double. We havent been to the noosa 29 in coffs but have been to the noosa 29 at Pottsville Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 38Sep 11, 2018 2:25 pm Rhani89 Wow i really like the idea of the glass, so where exactly does that go? infront of the shower head? or the wall to the left of the shower head?It sounds really nice! We havent been to the noosa 29 in coffs but have been to the noosa 29 at Pottsville Hi Rhani, The window is to the right of the vanity (see plan on page 1 of this forum). So when in the shower if you turn your head / body to the right you get a view directly through the window. It would have been better to have the shower head positioned so that you looked straight out the window when under the shower head. However, we really wanted a feature recess but because we have a cavity sliding door we couldn't get it on the same wall as the door. It had to go on the left wall. The main bathroom also has a clear window (note: obscure glass is currently shown on the plan and I have been trying to get this annotation corrected since January this year) and I have the same intention to install an atrium garden outside the window. Although, I will also install a plantation shutter on the window recognising that guests might prefer to close the shutters. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 39Sep 13, 2018 8:55 am Can’t wait till we are out of this admin stage! So painful how long it all takes! Still waiting on start date. Our consultant is off today so she said we should get it tomorrow we have all our variations and construction certificate. We have an amazing consultant so if anyone gets Becky you will have it so easy. Unless she’s sick of me emailing her and just wants to get rid of me 🤣 Re: Coral Homes Daydream 28 Far North Coast NSW 40Sep 13, 2018 10:20 am Tash801 Can’t wait till we are out of this admin stage!
